I put on a 4" MBRP and do not like how loud it is but more the drone that it creates. I don't have the best hearing and that sound drowns out everything in the cab to the point I have the radio on max just tooling around town.

Anyone had success in getting rid of it? If so how? I'd entertain a different muffler or tip.

I might remove the tip for a day to see what that gives me.

search for drone.. been covered before. there's a resonator you can get if it bothers you that much.

I have a magnaflow on my truck, and it is usually pretty quiet but I loaded a tune that made a horrible drone while crusing. Turns out it wasnt making any boost crusing. A few changes and it is now quiet again, but it was horribly annoying. Good luck

Wait....is it straight piped? When I had my 4" mbrp I tried it of course NO cat. With muffler=no resonance
muffler reversed=no resonance
straight pipe=obnoxious

It has the MBRP muffler on it and after driving up to the mountains for 4 hours, then elk hunting a day then retrieving and towing my trailer back home for 4 hours... ya... something needs to go or change on the muffler setup. But OMG does it tow much different now with the Edge and MRBP so I don't want to change to much.

My instructions gave two directions for mellow and obnoxious. Later! Frank

quiet direction is louvers facing the front of the truck
loud direction is louvers facing the rear of the truck

not too much different, but there is a tone change.

Strange. I went with MBRP from stories on here of little to no drone which is exactly what I am getting. I wonder what the difference is?? Engine??

the pipes are the same, but everyones hearing is different. some are sensitive to certain frequencies where others love it.. personal preference. someone said mine had a drone, I hear a nice rumble.

fill out a signature so we know what truck you have and mods.

Is your MBRP for the Crew Cab listed in your sig? I have a 06 CC that I installed a Flo-Pro 4" SS exhaust system on about 3 months ago. It's too quiet for me and Im looking for a MBRP 4" Stainless muffler to switch out...

If your interested let me know. There is NO drone at all. You can hear the turbo whine better. I was looking for a quiet system when I purchased this, and it fits the bill. But too quiet for me....Let me know, maybe we can work out a trade....

Ive heard no drone in mine, nor has anyone ever mentioned any sort of drone to me either... Mines set up with louvers opening facing downstream. It has a nice low growl at idle to mid throttle.... WOT = startled nearby pedestrians looking for an approaching 747... but no drone that ive ever noticed and i drive 3+hours daily

tapping on the pipe before it enters into the muffler it rings pretty bad. I'm going to clamp some metal to it first to see if that helps If so I'll MIG it onto the pipe.

I also have my muffler installed with louvers open facing downstream like my MBRP install document said to. It did not have any other instructions regarding muffler install to attain a certain type of sound. Only on way was mentioned for install so I followed it.

I had an ATS system on a truck & it too had a nasty drone. Now I have a Banks system, it is barely louder than stock, like maybe 2% louder.

But.... you have the MBRP already, A couple things I did with my old ATS system were;
-extended the Exhaust tip out a little further to clear the inside of the fender.
-installed a piece of pipe insulation foam (grey foam aprox 2.5" OD) between the bottom of the box & the cab.
hope this helps :)

Now that Corsa sells JUST the Muffler...if you have a Drone you can buy the Corsa and have the BEST sounding Exhaust out there, and be Drone free!

I added a resonator post muffler and truck is quieter than oem. Loved the quiet now for 5 years!
