I've had my truck since last September and have close to 12,000 miles on it but had yet to tow anything until yesterday. I picked my new boat up yesterday in St. Louis. The boat and trailer weigh right around 8,000lbs dry. I was flat out impressed how easily the truck handled this load. I've towed boats with gassers for about 8 years and after yesterday, I could never go back. On the 190 mile return trip I knocked down a little over 13 MPG (hand calculated) running between 65 - 70 MPH. I know there has been a lot of discussion on the LLY not being the towing machine the LB7 is but I am more than pleased with how mine performed. The Allison flat out rocks in tow/haul mode. I give it a :thumb:

I thought the LLY engine was a BETTER towing engine... less fuel economy. It has higher HP/torque numbers anyway.

I feel like my LLY tows better than my LB7 did. Just doesn't get as good a fuel mileage.

I towed my boat with an 02 and it did great. My boat is at least 10,000 on the trailer. Just got a good deal on an 05 and can not wait to see how it pulls with the extra tq and hp.

Were do you boat at?
