Sorry to bring this up again, but on the LLY forum there was talk of the 06's having an Allison with 6 speeds. Any thoughts? If it's true, I wonder if the older Allisons could be modified.

per Howard_M18 it is true. Possible modification is "the" subject of much speculation right now, but no for sure answers yet. :confused:

I think some people might know something but no one is talking.The fuel mileage will be better for sure. I would love to have an extra gear at 70mph when not towing. I may have to trade for a 06, but with my luck it would be not be available till Jan. 07 and hard to find and order.

i've seen somewhere in one forum that our trucks are already equipped with the 6th gear but the TCM doesn't opt for it, or something like that. I do know that in the 06, there will be some lockout options where you can lock out any gear you want, except 1st of course. It appears pretty cool, but you would have more options on the tranny as you can manually shift it up and down with a selector switch. I believe that the 6th gear ration was .61. I will try and find the website for the options on the 06.

Nice info, where did you get that? Well it appears to be true, the Alli will have a 6th gear accessable to it. The M feature seems like a good idea, being able to lock out a gear or range of gears. Thanks
