My friend bought a truck recently but its got some problems. Maybe the
collective mind can help him and me fix it.

Truck in question is a 1997 Chevy Dually with 6.5T and 227K miles.
Turbo is a 1999+ model (replaced by PO).

When the truck is cold it starts up fine with one turn or less.

After is warms up it switches to rough operation and stumbling and
begins to spew a lot of gray smoke.

The check engine light comes on with p0216 codes and p1214 codes.

The pmd has been relocated to the cab and the optical sensor replaced.
Additionally, a different servo motor on the pump has been tried. None
of these changed the operation.

Not sure where to proceed next, but we think its something
temperature related. I.E once the truck warms up something trips, but
what we are unsure.
Here is a filled out checklist Thanks for you help guys.

The rad.hose getting hard would lean me twards cracked head or head gasket. Is it using any anti-freeze? I would pressure test cooling system when engine is warm. Is there a noticable rattle untill it warms up?[Timing advancing] Ip timing could be off. When engine warms up timing retards too far making stumble. Try unpluging temp sensor on the crossover that should make the computer think it's cold and advance the timing. The sound of the engine should change. A scan tool would tell you what the timing is set at and if it is advancing.I'm no expert. This is just what I would check first. The rad hose getting hard rightaway is usally a bad sign. Hopefully someone that knows more than me will chime in.
