Can one of the allison transmission mechanics please tell me how many quarts a stock allison transmission holds on an 05 2500 HD?

Thanks for the help.

Actually I want to flush it so I need to know how many quarts total for the pan and torque convertor together. I have looked in the manual and do not see that the total capacity of is listed.

Thanks for the quick response also.

a good flush will require about 4 gallons, 5 will ensure a complete flush

Cool. I have a friend with a machine that hooks up to the line and will flush everything but his machine can only flush 16 quarts (4 gallons) at a time. So if the total capacity is 4 galllons then I should be fine.

Thanks for the help.

Max Payne posted a document in Nov. listing all the capacities. Unforturneately, not all of the list survived the conversion to the new bulletin board software. The capacities for the Allison with a the standard pan were 7.4 qts for a drain service and 12.7 qts total.

Thanks. I did try searching and could not find anything. That would make sense that it did not make it during the upgrade.

Does anyone still have the document that Max Payne posted originally? I would be interested in taking a look at it myself.

Brad,

Here is a link to the original posting with the fluid capacities. As I mentioned, most of it was cut off during the system conversion.

You might try sending Max Payne a PM to see if he can repost it.
