I know the EGR issue has been hammered here almost to death, and I have tried to keep up with the threads. I apologize if this has already been asked but here goes:

Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but...IIRC on the old gassers, when the EGR plunger retracts from the first passage, it allows the gas to travel through the EGR then into the second passage. Now, I have not seen what the DMax EGR looks like off clear enough to determine, but would it not be adequate to have a hole in the blocker plate just to allow the plunger to travel through? What I am getting at is that if the other passage is blocked, the gas still cannot go anywhere and the EGR is allowed to function w/o really doing anything. This would allow the proper voltages to be reported to the computer and still give all the benefits of no EGR?

Again, I have not seen enough of a view of the manifold with the EGR off to really know, so hopefully someone can chime in and either correct me or verify my thoughts.

Right now I just have it unplugged, but have been contemplating the blocker plate.

Thanks

your thinking is correct, but the diesel unit is a bit different. The blocker plate is actually upstream of the valve and blocks the gasses from even getting to the valve.

Thanks dmaxallitech! But does it matter if the gas gets into the valve body and stops there? Other than maybe clogging it up down the road? I am thinking as long as it can't continue into the intake, no harm and we can all let the computer think all is just fine.

P.S. I am sorry to hear about your situation! I hope all works out for you and your family. I will continue to support your site as probably all here will. You've done a great job with it, and you have been a big asset to all here.

If you ever relocate to a dealership around Detroit I will be in to see you. It would be nice to have a diesel mechanic you can trust. Good luck, Greg
