Hey Guys,

I couldn't find anyone describing a problem like this with my search. My truck has started having a little miss or skip occasionally. It just started this a few weeks ago. The first couple of times it was when I was accelerating and it almost felt like a missed shift. Now, I can notice it missing at lower throttle settings. Like today as I was leaving work, just easing down the street at 25-30 mph I felt it miss a few times. I felt it again a little later on my drive also. It is barely noticable, at lower speeds, but it is becoming more frequent. My fuel filter only has about 2500 miles on it.

Has anyone had a problem like this?

Thanks in advance,
Alan

Did this start about the same time the fuel filter was changed?

Any other symptoms?

When last time MAF sensor cleaned?

How is the air filter?

No, It has been a while since I changed the fuel filter. Probably almost two months ago.

The air filter hasn't been replaced in a while, but I always blow it out when I service the truck (every 5,000 miles) and it looked fine the last time.

It doesn't have any other symptoms, and it hasn't set off a warning light of any kind.

I have no idea what the MAF sensor is. Where is it at, and how do you clean it? Maybe I'll try that.

It kinda seems like a fuel filter, but I would think it would be more often if that was the problem. I hate to waste that money if that isn't the problem. I guess that would be a lot cheaper than other things though.

Thanks for your quick reply,
Alan

MAF = mass air flow sensor a little thing held on by two torx bit screws on your air cleaner piping just off the air cleaner box. Cleaning it every time you service your truck will not only improve your performance but gas milage as well. By the mass air flow cleaner from car quest and spray the dust of the two diodes inside of the MAF. (cue tips are a plus to dry it off and finish the cleaning.

When you put your fuel filter on how tight did you get it? Sometimes if you dont get it on tight enough it will suck air and cause the issues you speak of. Also with this new diesel fuel my filters have been seeing a life of roughly three months unless I run a fuel suppliment.

CRC makes a mass airflow cleaner available at Advance Auto, AutoZone, etc.

Report back and let us know if that helped. Be careful not to drop the little bushings under the torx screws.

I will. It hasn't been doing it the last couple of days. I pulled my tractor Wednesday and Saturday and it never missed a lick....and hasn't since. Maybe she was just tired of not being used to her ful potential. :)

I'm still going to clean the MAF sensor. I haven't been doing that. I'm sure the problem hasn't fixed itself.

Thanks,
Alan
