As my final class in college, i'm taking an International Transportation class (as required). I need to locate the pricing of "The total cost of diesel transportation". The context of this topic is a project that i proposed to transport Biodiesel from location A to location B. In your tanker, or one on contract?
On contract, basic cost per mile.
Own truck, then you have to look at all sorts of things. Things like cost of operation, cost of money to buy the truck, cost of labor, intrest expense, taxes on the truck, taxes on the business, payroll taxes. Get the idea. Then you have to spread the costs over the number of miles driven per time period to come up with a cost per mile.
Maybe a good accountant would be a starting point.

Also the increased cost of hauling HAZMAT...ie. insurance and in some cases higher driver pay, this means higher per mile charge.

Open the phonebook and look for some bulk haulers in your area, give them a call or stop in person and tell them what you are doing......I am sure they will help you out.
