Not sure where exactly to post this. Anybody ever seen blue fuel? I've heard of red, but BLUE? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/wtf.gif I know this fuel is fresh, had to wait on the truck to get out of the way last night. So tonight I fill it up, all the way up, and I can see the fuel in the neck and it looks like one of those blue Hawaiian drinks in there.
Anybody got any ideas why its blue?

Originally, the EPA's low sulfur diesel regulations required the addition of blue dye to noncomplying high sulfur (>0.05% mass) fuels but when the FAA pitched a ***** fit because Avation fuel was blue, the EPA changed the dye from blue to red. It might be in your best interest to verify with the station owner the difference of fuel color.

I asked them. They didn't know. Said it was Sinclair fuel.

Clear fuel always sorta has a blue look to it, but not real blue.. You mean a deep blue color or just a slight tint?

Blue enough that it looks blue in the filler neck at night.

I remember when Sunoco gasoline was dyed blue. That was more than 30 years ago.

If I fill up to the neck the diesel looks blue to me as well.

Speaking of blue, anyone remember Blue Velvet motor oil from the 70's/early 80's?! It was as blue as could be!

Usually when I fill it to the neck it looks like fuel. This just struck me as odd. Perhaps it was the lights? However, when I rolled by this morning, there was a fuel truck there again. Curious.

Truck seems to run okay though.

The other night it was red. This morning it was orange. I did see a couple of Smurfs handling hoses though. ):h

If that is a Hawaiian drink of some kind in your tank, be aware that the sugars in the drink may carmelize from the heat of combustion. This might lead to injector wear you don't what.

Is this a St. Patrick's Day joke? Do you buy your diesel fuel in Chicago?
