my truck started having an idle surge problem recently right after i installed stacks? i thought it was because i had to put an old pmd in but i have since changed it and same thing... when ever it is cold it surges; chug...chug...chug but when it warms up i cannot get it to do it unless i hook up my gmtdscantech and try to raise the idle to 1500 through the program if i raise it with the pedal its fine... today i tried, topping off engine oil, changing fuel filters, using jumper cables to check for ground problems, and lastly tightening all fuel connections but couldnt tell the difference it was already warm and running fine buy then... when i hook up my scantech it says the fuel metering jumps from 5-0-10-0 while it surges also the tps or pedal volts are .67 at idle... i wont be able to check anthing else till friday, heading out on the big road to make $$ wont be back home till friday...

I also have an idle surge, but only when i use fast idle, and only cold mornings. if i let idle normally for 2 or 3 mins & then switch to fast idle, it works quite well.

Air in the fuel system? Leak, OPS or LP or both not working properly (you said it is working).

lp was working when i jumped it to refill the fuel filter... didnt check actual pressure though... ops may be bad? but it has plenty of top end power when warmed up kinda makes me think something else... but the fuel connections were a little loose for my taste... so i tightend everything up... we'll see i doubt thats the problem but you never know

just spoke to the previous owner he has some parts in his garage for the truck lp is one of them he's gonna give me it and what ever else he has tomorrow... so gonna change the lp this weekend... and i'll check the ops too hopefully that will fix it...

so far i've changed the lp checked the fuel pressure (5.5pds) ects (that seemed to help) but ice cold start no change... tried retightening no surge since but its warm now... i'm now getting some tps codes but we'll see where that goes... fixed some fuel leaks (rotted return line) water drain leaking

well its come down to changing the ip so i bought a new stanadyne unit today from a local pump rebuilder (never even knew he was there) made me a deal i couldnt refuse 110 dollars more than his rebuild pumps... and he said as soon as i get the old one out bring it down and he'll test it, if its still good and not the problem just return the new pump for a full refund and keep hunting for problems... so tomorrow is the day... i figure local is the way to go after some ebay mishaps in the past... GRRR!
