Has anyone had any problems with Upper radiator hose try suck together when engine cold. Its a 04 2500HD with 101000 miles I'm looking at buying. Also heat doesn't get hot and after driving a while hose seems to do fine. Don't want to buy it if head gaskets are blown. Any help would be great. To me it acts like matbe there is a air pocket in cooling system or Thermstat is opening up to early

I have a 02 with 120 k on it and the upper radiator hose gets pulled together when it is cold. It has been like that since I've had it. No problems with any part of the cooling system.

The vent is plugged on the coolant surge tank cap. Some folks have been successful in cleaning it and getting it to work again.
Or, you can just replace the cap.
They run about $10 at O'Rielly's, Autozone, etc.

My lbz hose did that arount 125,000 miles. replaced cap and hose.
Why is it so hard to find a hose?
Local parts stores nothing, had to drive 45 miles one way to get one from the nearest dealer

Where are you at, it's getting to be that time of year in a lot of areas when it takes a while for these engines to warm up good. Sounds like a new rad. cap will fix the vacuume problem and head gaskets will give just the opposite effect on the hose so no problems there.
