Well it has been 4 years almost to date that I have had the Pendaliner in the bed. It has worked very well but is starting to shows signs of cracking in the areas up by the cab. Most are from sharp edge stuff that slid up there are from the DeeZee Tool chest that can move around. I have decided to switch to Line -X and then add the Tuffy Bed side tool boxes. Thought I would post some before and after pics.

Line-X (or other quality spray in liners) is the ONLY way to go IMHO.

Well, at least you saved the Line-x guys some prep time...I wish i would've went with line-x, but the rhino is okay....

Are you going to do like Mav and have the sides of the boxes that face into the bed Line-Xed? It might cost more, but I'd do it...

Well, they are spraying the bed today, should have Pics tonight. I will configure the Tuffy bedside boxes then consider Line-X. My concern about painting anything black, is the heat draw. I am routinely in sun that can be 100+ degrees outside, I have IR checked my bedliner and it has been a whopping 150-160 degrees. If I paint the boxes black all its contents will be subject to an oven like environment....Not a good thing.

I will post pictures tonight on finished product.

On a further note, I cut up the pendaliner with my saw. I cut it very clean to keep the bottom. it will be a drop in protector(like a mat) for the heavy sharp objects. Should work out perfect. I like the spray in but always enjoyed the abuse I threw at the pendaliner. I have to be more cautious now.

Just got my 05 Dmax back from Line-X last Friday and had them tint my Line-X job red. Same color as my truck and am very happy with the way it turned out. I believe he ordered Fire Red paint code 74 for my job. Got the sides and over the bed rails also. Extra $70 bucks for the tint job.

Burbans2:

Man - gotta see pictures of this. I have my 05 Line-X'd - and I also had my entire 14 foot utility trailer sprayed as well. Truck is black - so I wasn't interested in tinting... but i'd love to see this. Have to talk to the local Line-X guys to see if they have ever done it...

can u post a pic?

Well here are the completed pictures. World of difference. We will see how it holds up...Let you know in 4 years......):h. I do admit it will be nice during the rainy season not to have my bed fill up with 50 gallons of water.....:D I got my drain holes back. I know I could have punched some small holes in the liner but that would have also let sand in and rubbed the paint even more than it was.

In reference to coloring the Line-X, I had asked the Line-X rep about tinting same color thinking in line of Burbans2 , He said it can be done, but did not recommend it(At least not for my application). He stated that the tint does not hold well and it fades fairly quick when subjected to the elements, primarily the sun. He said it holds up well when covered by a camper shell or retract type covers.

That does look good. I have mine done with Line-X as well and much prefer the more finished look to it than the Rhino look.

What do you mean? Perfect place to keep the lunch hot!
Nice job on the liner.

BK,
I have IR(Infra Red) temperature gauge I use to check my tire temperature and track temp after burn out when drag racing. So I decided one day to check the bedliner temp with it. Black sucks in a lot of heat. I have seen ground temperatures at the Strip in Las Vegas that have gotten over 160 degrees. Stand around long enough, your shoe soles get soft....Imagine getting in a car with a SFI 5 suit, a full helmet, Gloves, roll up the windows then sit in the staging lanes. I have seen temps inside my car over 135....

Speedliner also is a great spray bedliner. It has UV protection in the material. Texture is kinda between X-liner and Rino liner. It also comes in some standard colors at no additional cost (gray is literally cool!). Custom colors to match paint is avaliable at addition cost. The local rep has his Duramax in basic gray with some neat graphics which have held up well over 2 years.

Just had mine done last friday, with Line-X. It was painful to watch them sand the rails during the prep phase.

They did a good job, but then they stuck this ridiculous tacky yellow badge on there advertising Line-X. It even said "warranty tag" on it in big garish yellow letters. I asked them what that was, and was told "that's the warranty tag" (read in your favorite low-IQ accent).

They said it has to be there for warranty coverage. As if that would hold up in court, with the paperwork in my name clearly showing the VIN. It's gone now. Fortunately they used cheap roofing-tar-like glue, and it peeled right off. A shot of tetra-chlor took care of the residue. They even took the liberty of putting a sticker on my rear window. What's next their logo on the doors?

Are they kidding? If you don't advertise for them for free they'll threaten to void your warranty? Maybe they don't need the truck-liner business anymore now that they're spraying the whole pentagon.

When I had mine done they put a Line-X sticker on the back window but no sticker in the bed that said anything about a warranty. In fact they gave me a reciept with the vin number on it that had a printed warranty. I told the guy it was a brand new truck and that I did not have any dealer bading on it even and I did not plan to advertise his product via a window sticker unless he paid me to do so. He took it off.

The place that did mine put a relatively cool looking chrome Line-X emblem in the bed. It has the name of the joint and phone number in really small letters. They put it just inside the tailgate on the sidewall so it isn't real noticeable. Maybe it would be good before getting it done to ask to see the place's emblem. I thought they were all the same but I guess not.

My Line_X label is located as Habenero's is. On the driver side, back on bedside by tailgate. I was OK with it.

I got the sticker on the window (taken off in the parking lot), but instead of any color badging in the bed, instead they used something like a badge placed on the wall of the bed before it was sprayed, so there is a subtle "Line-X" in the coating... pretty classy as far as unwanted advertising goes.

That's what my previous Line-X liner had. It was ok, tasteful.

But, WARRANTY TAG in yellow letters?

just had mine line-xed. the rep told me the same thing that the color matching would fade but that it could be sprayed with factory matched auto paint on top of the line x and be fine. mine is fire red and looks awesome.

I'm a LINE-X dealer, allow me to explain about colors.

There are two methods used today, one is good, the other is not. The bad way is to just add pigment to the liner and spray it. This liner will fade. The good method is to spray a pigmented liner and then paint it with Dupont Ful-thane Nason paint. Nason is a urethane automotive paint. Since it's urethane based, it will actually bond to the LINE-X product. It will not fade or chip and is very durable. We use the factory paint code to get an exact color match. I use this method and it works great.

Pics are scanned, so not so great resolution.

Does a guy have to start with a pigment colour first or can it be sprayed black then painted?

I wanted to do my rocker panels with the coloured stuff and the shop advised me not to do it for the same reasons as allready posted

My truck is white

Thanx TruckDaddy

You will not get as good of a color match spraying a color on top of black LINE-X. I would not recommend it.

Pics sorta suck, but....

LINE-X'd rocker panels and fender flares to match a color from a Suburban. Darn good job, eh? Going around those chrome (actually plastic) pieces is a major PITA. BTW, we sprayed the bed (over the rails) in the same color.
