Ok everyone, I have seen the discussion on installing the water pump before you install the crossover and dual stats. Does anyone see any problems with putting the crossover with dual stats on with the old style water pump. I will be installing the water pump at a later time along with the new fan and clutch?

:grd: , dude - go fer it! It's a good start
Two gaskets, thread-sealer, '97 upper rad hose, and some minor filing on the a\c or idler pulley bracket.
Drain ~gallon of coolant to drop the level below the x-over outlets in the heads, with the truck sitting level.

Bow,
Do you have the alt on the drivers or pass side? If you have th BB style A/c compressor/ alt on pass side, the filing on the bracket might be minimal.

Thanks QM, the AC is on the pass side for sure. I have to look at the alt but I believe it is driver side

Just done my 97 upgrade 2 weeks ago, alt. on pass. side and I didn't have to do any filing on bracket. Truck has never yet went above 180 great investment.

Bow,
You have the same configuration as my '94, and I'd imagine you'll have to do the filing gmctd mentioned on the alt bracket.
I've been running the 97+ cooling upgrade w/regular '95 pump, I refuse to change a good working pump, esspecially one so expensive. My upgrade kit came with a new 130GPM pump so it's just waiting in the garage for the original one to go bad. On my 95 I had to cut a sliver out of the belt tentioner bracket to fit the new crossover manifold.

What brand and temps are your stats are you using? Whats everyone else using?
I'm running 195 deg. robertshaws from Kennedy. I would prefer to get my engine up to 205deg. Most people here seem to like 180 deg t.stats. To each his own, I have my reasons and I'm not done improving the cooling system.

Try Kennedy or Heath Diesel for the complete package.
