the new toy sometimes don't want to crank over(no spin) like the motor is locked up... well first thought is bad cylniod on the starter.... we I noticed the other night when the starter won't engage I see a flash of light on top of the colum behind the instument cluster but it's not there when it does turn over.... have any of you guys had this happen to your truck???>

When it won't spin over...do you hear a click from the solenoid? If not, might check the ignition switch and the wiring to it. Ignition switch is on top of the column behind the instrument cluster. Access it from under the dash. Two 5/16 screws hold it to the top of the column.

My ammeter gauge shorted out and would spark & smoke on startups.
But that was an aftermarket hack job by the PO. My aftermarket hack job works great! :)

Hmm, its interesting that you would be seeing the flash behind the cluster when the problem occured. Seems to me that something had to be arcing.
Did you happen to check the neutral safety switch and connector? I realize the starter took care of the "no crank", but I'd be concerned that it may have damaged something else and screw ya when you least expect it.
