try this website:

http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=214727&chapter=&Sectionids=6,2782&groupid=2783&subgroupid=3764&componentid=0&make=11&model=Sierra&year=2003&graphicID=GH99806&callout=8&catalogid=2&displayCatalogid=0

It's were I found my module (sensor/float) for my 06 lbz.

If you are getting fuel then the sending unit itself ie: the part that actually sends the fuel is fine...no? If the fuel gauge is working but shows MT all the time, then it is likely the module itself.

At least that was my thinking. Stealer will rip you off large for one of these. Got mine in 6 days after order all the way to Barrie, Ontario - and free shipping to boot - even into Canada and that is not something we see up here very often.!!

Now I was just looking at your sig and see you have an 02 not an 03...for some reason I cannot see what difference the sending would be and don't believe there is any difference - yet when I used the same site it gave me this and it seems to lean towards a 6.5 L engine and not the early lb7's..? weird.

I ahve also seen on e-bay motors sending units for lb7's as well.

here is what I found on this link: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?action=getJointLocator&siteid=214727&chapter=&Sectionids=6,2782&groupid=2783&subgroupid=2597&componentid=0&make=11&model=Sierra&year=2002&graphicID=GH95289&callout=10&catalogid=2&displayCatalogid=0

cheers,

stk

I did a search, and i was actually reading some of your posts, my gauge actually works, i fill up and it will read full for a while then it starts bouncing from full to empty. So do you think it's the sending unit?

Most of the time if the guage is jumping like that it is the guage cluster. The stepper motors that move the pointers go bad. There are a few places that will rebuild the cluster for a few dollars, or you can buy stepper motor kits and do it yourself. You should check the sending unit first. You can access the connector under the hood under the fuse panel. It is just 2 wires for the sending unit and all you check for is continuity. Best time to check is when the guage start the act up. If the rock the truck back and forth to make the float rise and fall you should be able to see the dead spot in the sending element. It is not real had to remove just drop the tank. Best place to look is a salvage yard. Just the element can be replaced but it is a pain, easier to replace the whole sending unit.
Good luck.

If you are going after the sending unit and you have nothing in the bed of your truck (IE Tool box or hitch) then it could be easier to remove the bed of the truck and slide it back on the frame to where you can get at the top of the tank and can change it out. Some guys like to drop the tank but then you gotta worry about how much fuel is in it and it being heavy and the fuel moving around. Other guys like to remove the bed but that will take at least one other person if you feel strong or 3 other people to be safer. Either way they have their ups and down. I hope things go well for you if you decide to change out the sending unit!

hey guys i have a 04 lb7 truck. I just bought it about a month ago and the guy i bought it from said the gauge reads wrong, when the gauge reads 1/2 it takes about 15 gal to fill back up at witch point the gauge goes up to just a little past the full mark outher than that it seems to move ok i.e not eratic. Also the cluster was replaced not to long ago by previous owner and when i change tunes with the power chips the gauge will make a full sweep just lookin for some advise before i buy a 300$ sending unit thanks

Amazing that I found this!!! My truck's fuel gauge just strted reading wrong in the past two weeks. It still shows between empty and quarter when it runs out of fuel. The light doesn't even come on to show low fuel when it ran out. Would this be the sending unit or gauge?? I just had the cluster rebuilt earlier this year and "supposedly" had all the stepper motors replaced. Please tell me what you think if it will be the unit or gauge.

My 03 did the same thing about 2 years ago. It was the sending unit, they had to drop the tank to fix it. Cost me around $400 if I remember correctly.
