Does anybody know what it would cost to ReChrome a set of wheels?

And also how hard would be to just have the chrome taken off and then have them powdercoated?

powder coat will be cheaper than rechroming. if they are AL wheels most powder coaters will not do them. Looked into this for my rims. The powder guy was great to talk to and had some AL stuff hanging around to look at. AL gasses off when heated and makes bubbles in the finish and when "dry" leaves a 80 grit sand paper look/feel to the areas where it happens. Rechroming will require sand/media blasting the wheel to clean off the old chrome ( some shops might grind it off ) then just usual chroming process. Depending on how backed up the chromer is could take 2 - 4 wks to rechrome.

If they are steel wheels the "chrome" powder coat doesnt have they "shine" that real chrome will have, but is 10x stronger finish. and hey why not go for some color on them other than black/chrome.

I know this is an old thread but I am interested in having my wheels rechromed also, Does anyone know about how much it would cost to get a set of 20X10 wheels rechromed?

Has anyone had any set of wheels rechromed? I like my Diamos and would like to keep them but they are pitting a little and im not liking the way the are starting to look.
