We all liked the indoor track last Feb and this past weekend. IF you have it again keep it inside. Track is more consistent inside. Other than that it has always been a great time. I think it was nicer in Feb this year there than in Oct weather wise.

I was at the pull last February when they had it indoors. I was only there as a spectator, but seemed to be a pretty good pull. Couldn't make this past october pull because of harvest, but I'm HOPING there is going to be another pull up there this coming February. That's about the only time we are not in field doing something! I know if you do have a pull in Fed my brother and I will will be there for sure with our dmax's.

We can put a powerstroke and cummins on a sheet of plywood and just use that for a sled.:D I actually like the outside tracks better, but sloverado is right about the track being the same as it always is and its surely easier on the trucks with it being that loose.

Are you guys kidding? It was disgusting when we moved inside and the diesels started pulling. You couldn't stand to be in the building it got so smokey. If you pull in Feb. and the diesels are there maybe some fans from the fire department would work.

01Duramax6spd
12-19-2008, 10:27 PM
Help me with ideas digger460. I've been trying to think up a way to move the smoke out. Nothing is set yet but I'm sure hoping it will go. Done it in Feb the last 2yrs.

You agree with me that the smoke was bad in Oct. don't you? What about fans from the fire department? Everything else would be cost prohibitive. What about turning down the smoke from your diesels?

01Duramax6spd
12-19-2008, 11:33 PM
Oh yeah it was making my throat scratchy :( and I couldn't video well enough. On mine I need a bigger charger to clear it up. Landons and Toms trucks are just going to smoke regardless. I'll ask about fans from the FD.

OK. Get a construction company to donate plastic corrugated pipe and come up with a steel tubing that can connect to any diesel exhuast system some how, then after the steel tubing connected the plastic corrugated pipe like about 12" inside diameter and get like 350 feet of it and run the plastic pipe all the way out side. Thats the best way to do it. I dont think it would be to expensive as long as you can get some one to do the custom exhuast connector. I could be missing some things but i think thats how they have done it with indoor tractor pulls. If they are going to keep doing two pulls a year there i think its well worth building this system.

They have a big exhaust collector at those big pulls back east bu they run $120,000  .
If we could get the pipe donated it might work. Just have to have a couple kids drag the pipe back after each hook.

FROSTBITE406
12-20-2008, 04:14 PM
Myers Construction might donate what you need. I know he is a big sponsor to the pulls they have around there. I talked to my dad he said the corrurgated pipe shouldnt be to expensive.

From what they have told me and what I found out getting one shouldn't be an issue. It's paying for it where the issue is currently. I'm going to try to talk to Cherilyn and Ernie soon and find out what the word is.

digger460
12-20-2008, 07:45 PM
Frosty has a good idea with the pipe but I think you would need some suckin at the outside end. The smoke would get half way and want to come back.

FROSTBITE406
12-20-2008, 11:36 PM
yeah digger i think your right, but the next step i think someone is going to need to work with whoever the sled operators are to make it work. I know that part of the system needs to be mounted on the sled so there isnt some much weight hanging the exhuast system.

t_dub1571
12-22-2008, 12:50 PM
The tricky part is going to be adapting said tube setup to different exhaust systems.. (1 stack, 2 stacks, single out back, duals out back, stack out the hood, etc)... But it's not just doing it, it's doing it in a timely fasion.. Not everyone likes waiting 10 minutes between trucks...

I do agree it got very smokey inside when we were there last year, and something should probably be done, but it could be tough to come up with something that's less of a hassle than the smoke itself....

just my thoughts

:)hey guys!!!!!
sorry took sooo long for me to chat back!!
dang computers.
heres the scoop so far. we have gotten info from xfactor for two sleds he wants 2 grand a nite. however we do not need two sleds. so not sure if he will come 8 hours for just one sled.
kyle has gotten us info on another one outa south dakota and also talkd with ol iron sides guy, dave and he is high also but super nice guy , would like to meet him sum day. .. Anyway we are having a meeting as soon as the holidays are over to make a decision.
if we hadnt blown our bank acct on our october pull we would be setting pretty. now we are starting from scratch.
the smoke is an issue, if you went last feburary we didnt have any problems. the weather was gorgeous. and we had a slight breeze and didnt really have a smoke issue. we also didnt have the number of diesels in octbr. the building has exhaust vents from end to end- however in oct it was still and we couldnt even see in there. gurrr
so if we could get fans up there or sumthing that mite help suck it out the top. would be less work than an exhaust system that hooks to the trucks...for us anyway. as soon as we find a sled i will let you guys know. its super awesume that you all want to come up here i just wish we could get the community involved more. thanks for being sooo patient with us.

well maybe theres a way to set the building up like kearney and hang up big ass fans (thats the name of the fans). www.bigassfans.com (http://www.bigassfans.com) i know kearney had them before a tornado killed the building.

You guys might contact 2Poor4Power about Kearney a few years back. I helped him out with the diesel pickup pull, it was pretty smokey there at the end as well. I can't remember if the fans were running or not. The smoke seems to hang up high in the building initially so, if you could catch it there and pull or push it out. Whatever you end up doing I'm sure everyone will appreciate it.

I agree with you 100%, the crowd always seems to be more responsive to the smokers for some reason vs. the smoke free diesels. Guess it's part of the image the tractors set up for us.

hello guys. we have just had a meeting. ...... we are battleing and insurance issue that might shut us down for having a pull. we belong to a group called platte valley. they do not have their annual meeting to discuss insurance until the 31st of january. that doesnt give us enough time to put a pull together that fast. we are trying to see if the lions club will put on the pull with their insurance. the fairboard will not cover any events such as ours. so we are trying to prolong the date to march.... what do you guys think of that??? date???? every weeknd open but the 21st for our indoor building. let me know. and thanks again. we ARE trying.

depending on platte valley if they dont fold this year, they go thru allied ins i believe and they said it would be 175 per pull wich sounds great to me. just gotta wait that out until dang meeting. we are hoping our local seed representitive shells out some seed for donations and hope we can even round up prize money for you guys also.
mike out of south dakota with the predator sled is giving us pricing for his sled at a flat of 1700.00 wich sound great. that is for 4 hours. anything after that is 100.00 an hour. so easily 2000.00 for our normal show. we are NOT doing any tractors. yea yea yea!!!
will keep you all posted . thanks!!!:D:D

I am sure March is fine. I don't think anyone will be upset with that. Another month of getting trucks ready is always good for a puller. The pull in kearney used to be the 3rd weekend on March. We still had trucks that couldn't come due to being in pieces.
Insurance has come in the way of other events in the past couple years so I feel for you. How expensive is it to get a 24hr insurance plan? I have heard of people doing it. I think it may be fairly expensive but you can get something like $1mil worth of insurance for that one day period.

What farmer stuff? I don't have a caker on it...........yet . I think I could hit 10,000lbs if I wanted to :D.
I think I'll plan on a 7800lbs and 8500lbs class unless anyone objects. I gotta get all these details wrapped up so we can get this stuff down on paper.

Any idea on weight classes for the Street Mod Gas Class?? Also, I'm assuming it will be DOT street tires only??

pullin girl
01-22-2009, 02:28 PM
we have been discussin this. previously in our club we hav a light mod class that weights are 5300lbs and under and over . max weight was 9600.
we have been tossing it around of doing a 5500 and 6500 class.

pullin girl
01-22-2009, 04:03 PM
for the tires our rules say for stock they are DOT tires . unlimited size as for light mod class our max size is 33 inch and DOT IS not required. one of our guys has pivot type tires. so bring it on!!!!! can get yu a website address tonight to c all the rules.

are they going to keep the nebraska mod trucks out of the light mod class. CAUSE that Lil red express truck spank us all in the heavy mod class in october, i was under the influence that we had a hyrdrualic lifters only rule. Its probly not a big deal but i was just curious.

TW4983P
01-22-2009, 05:49 PM
A 5500 and 6500 class is doable, but we are built for 5800 and 6500. Not a big deal. The tires are not a big deal either. Pretty confident with our streets against the bar tires. So if we're running a roller setup, where do we fall into play?? Is there enough Mod Gas trucks to separate them?? I hate to show up to pull against myself. Although, if the Big Red Express was there that would make it a little more fun.

FROSTBITE406
01-22-2009, 06:15 PM
idk for sure if there would be enough trucks to seperate. But they had the blue chevy from nebraska tractor pullers THEE TOY and The Dodge express truck and digger from south dakota is getting to be a pretty hot truck now also. Its not a big deal if i really wanted to compete i wouldnt still be running a small block.

01-23-2009, 12:00 AM
we are planning to have the platte valley classes of stock and light modified 4x4 classes. we also had planned on having a couple of classes of heavy modified trucks like the nebraska pullers. then the diesel stock and the 2.5 and 2.8. two weight classes for each. not going to get real stickey with the heavy rules. too many different clubs from too far away to match up anything. thats why we kinda let the diesels decide how to run in feb. we are here to dig the track and let you pull.:D:D

Get yourself a EFI Live tuned 8.1 Vortec in that 67 and spank him good :D. Turbo wouldn't hurt either. Lol! Really make that little Dodge cry.

about time the tech man chimed in. and here is the website addresss to anyone needing the stock and light modified rules. www.neb-sandhills.net/pvtp (http://www.neb-sandhills.net/pvtp) or type in platte valley pullers and should be able to find it.

3.0 atmosphere charger, weight penalty for the second charger (300lbs is common for the penalty).

Usually i see twins pulling in a modified class with no turbo size limit. To bad we dont have more trucks to be in a class like that.

2Poor4Power
01-23-2009, 05:35 PM
I think there are too many guys driving their trucks daily around here to get too many mod trucks. They are fun to watch though. In this area we need to get a competitive 3.0 class before guys step up to the point of no return with a mod truck. IMHO

I believe we will see more guys running twins when they are allowed to pull with trucks that are more their competition as opposed to always having to jump up to the unlimited class and get it handed to them. I think that is why the weight penalty came into play. NW Missouri pullers put the rule into effect 2 season's ago and it is catching on in other places too. I see nebraska power pullers added that rule this year too. By them adding that rule this year I have heard of some guys revisiting the idea of twins.
The guys who drive their trucks on a daily basis like the rule because they can still use the 300 or more rpm on the street that they will ultimately lose by going to a large single. While still enjoying themselves on the weekend.

These are my opinions obviously and I am sure the pull will go well how ever you guys set it up. Can't please them all right? Good luck.

I can't see how you will get sponsers for payouts. I went to Broken Bow in October and there were 6 people in the audience. Sponsers usually like to have an audience. I can't imagine having many more than that in March beings it will be colder than crap still. Don't get me wrong I had a good time. And I wouldn't mind if there were no payouts at the March pull. Sometimes I think we have a better time when there are no payouts. One thing I do like is not having to pay hook fees or entrance fees. My truck is in a million pieces right now and am trying to get it back togeter for March but seems doughtful.

actually if yu had went last feb ,we had to keep telln the crowd to back away from the track . we had three big bleechers full o people. we were indoors and we advertized that. we never charged anything to get in. in october it was just a shitty day. rain and cold and advertized outside. we were just screwd there.
as for our sponsors,,, we are on our 4th year pulling here in merna as an annual event and we have our local trust worthy sponsors. all we did last time was advertize for them twice instead of once and that was a good deal. this year we are hopin for them to step it up for two pulls. broken bow in march and merna in july. so with our four members we WILL conquer and have pay outs for you guys.
and your welcome!!! i like to pull myself so hosting an event is an all together much larger high than just entering. hope you all get ur trucks runnin!! vvvrroooom vvvrrroommm!

I would love to say that the payout makes the pullers come but it isn't always the case. We payed out ~$750 for first, ~$500 second ~$300 for third for the Kearney indoor pull 2 springs ago and we got a few Nebraska pullers and quite a bit of interest from Missouri. Still not a ton of trucks. I think if we could have done it for one more year it may have been different. I think consistency helps so pullers can plan on it each year.

If you show up earlier that's fine too cause I will be there as early as possible. I am 3hr away so I'll try to make it by 9:30-10:00am.

Still waiting to hear from the engine builder. If all is good, we will be there. Quite a few small things to do as well, however, if we hit it hard the weekend before, everything will be ready.

No. Won't make it. I got myself in even deeper this past weekend. I removed the rear springs and am going with a solid suspension. I always did have a blocked rear suspension but don't want that anymore. And now since I know I can't make it to Broken Bow I want to do a new weight rack. I'll keep my eye on the C.N.P. web page for other pulls this summer. And hopefully another Broken Bow pull in the Fall like last year.

I talked to Dave back in Feb. He said that as long as he did not break anything in IN, he would be coming to BB. Looks like he did pretty good for having to put on street tires. He normally runs bar tires. If some of the NE Tractor Puller's trucks show up, it should be a pretty good Mod Gas Class. Is SledDawg making an appearance??

FROSTBITE406

I didnt pull, the guys in Sean and Daves class where pushing upwards of 900hp from what i was told.
Greg and Linda had a ball, but neither placed out of there each 3 pulls i think they both only had one that wasnt DQ. They where having problems with blowing the intake manifold apart because of the elevation and how they had them jetted.
I only got to watch the pro street diesel 2.8 class, so i dont know how he did in the the pro-stock diesel class 3.0. But was neat to see how the diesel trucks pulled indoors. They all had to make there own custom exhuast systems just for it.

Here are a few pics i took on my trip to indiana

Here is Greg's Old Sled, its like brand new now.

Heres a pic of sean getting ready to pull after the guy in front of him. As you can see from under that truck these guys dont play around.

I was wondering if all the exhaust stuff is needed for the indoor pull, like to run it into a tube. In the workstock diesel will an electric kill work instead of the air like it reads in the rules. Also any idea of the payouts??

01Duramax6spd
03-19-2009, 09:51 AM
No exhaust stuff is required. Hopefully it will be warm and we can pull outside. The kill isn't required either but it's alright if you have it.
I can't say for certain on payout because I don't know how much sponsor money Cherilyn and Ernie got or how many entries we'll have. $200 went to the guy who won both weight class's in Oct in the 2.5 class.

I dont think you will need a killswitch or shutoff for workstock.....I think they kinda let those things slide. Cherilyn or Kyle can answer that for sure....guys???

Is the pull going to be a go no matter what, or what type of weather will cause a cancellation?? If the weather gets in the way of things, is a reschedule likely?? We're really hoping that the weather turns out decent, and we all can have a good time!! Not looking the best right now, but we all know that could definately change by Sat.

Im pretty sure its no matter what. But however if it is indoors i would like to see all the trucks be able to be park inside. Side by side along side of the track like they do at some indoor pulls. But there will probly be too many trucks to fit them like that.

Pretty sure there wouldnt be enough room since there will prolly be a decent crowd standing in there to. I think the pull is indoors no matter what.

There's definately NOT enough room to park inside. I'm guessing we'll have more spectators this time. Currently it's showing 40 degrees for Sat in Broken Bow so I'm guessing it'll be inside. I was hoping to have 65 degrees so it could be outside. We'll keep everyone posted.

it is inside . we didnt even think about outside after october. and the track infront of the grandstands are a mud pit right now. hoping for 50 saturday. guna have fans up top to assist with smoke and if we have a slight breeze we got it made. wish we had a building big enough to park in but legally we have to be 30 ft away from crowd plus it takes 25 ft to set up bleechers. so that does take away lots of room. i beleive we are going to have wonderful weather and have lots of contestants!!! myself included. whoo hoooo !!!!!!! also the fair board is having a consession stand in middle of the bleechers and our money pot for payouts is growing. sooo bring it on. also last year we had a get together at huckelberrys bar.... they raped us on the price and had like an old reject willie nelson band playing..so we didnt book anything with them. just think we can get together there or sylvesters afterwards for a bit of socializing!! hope that sounds ok!! have glen grint of Under Pressure Racing as our announcer and sound system man. will have the lions club at the fairgrounds gate directing you to the pits and we have different colord arm bands for pits and bleechers.

Frostbite, I thought you made two nice passes!! Once we got the truck loaded, I was going to stop over and say hi, but then I saw your trailer heading out. I'm sure you guys were ready to get back on the road. We did the same thing....loaded up and headed out.

Thanks, things could not have gone much smoother. That was my last pass with the ol' small block, im retiring it. Sorry we jumped out so soon. Btw what truck where you with?

TW4983P
03-30-2009, 05:06 PM
Cool!! Are you building another small block, or are you going to jump up to a big block??

I had the flat black Ford (The Wood) that was parked off to your right. For some reason, my clutch was not slipping the best on my first hook. My second hook was alot better, but I still finished a little behind Wenske. It would have been nice to have a little taller gear in the tranny for that run:)!!!!
