hey all...love the site...always entertaining. I just wanted to ask if anyone had purchased/used one of the new air filters with the glue lines holding the fins together to make it less fleixble. I had my old fram crush in and when I picked a new one up yesturday it had lines of glue running perpendicular to the fins to give it strength. I just wondered if this acutally works, as mine was all mangled without the glue lines. The STP filter had the same thing but was not as ridgid. Later...

The glue is there to prevent the paper fins from caving in due to the tubro suction. Any paper filter for the Duramax should have the glue strips on them. Much more air flow than a gasser.

The Fram without the glue lines is for the gas engines.

The Fram with the glue lines is for the Duramax, but still looks inadequate compared to the AC Delco. The AC Delco has more glue lines that are heavier, and it has more pleats. The AC Delco appears to be a better filter when compared to the Fram. Also, the AC Delco was highly rated in the filter test done by Spicer.
