I have been a long time fan of chevy gasser engines, but have always ran Ford diesels. I recently have wanted to update to a newer truck, and am looking at the 96 to 99 6.5 TD and 4l80e tranny combo. Being that my current diesel is mechanical, i do not have current knowledge of the electronics of a 6.5 TD, and/or what to look for in buying one. So What should i pay attention to when making a purchase? Do these things have problems with cavitation, headgaskets, etc? What about for heavy towing, will a 4l80e hold up? I do all my own work and will soon be reading up, as i just found this site. What can you offer me.
