: How Much Diesel Kleen To Add?

Hey all. I'm switching back to Power Service Diesel Kleen, for fuel additive. I was using 9oz of Stanadyne Performance Formula.

How much of Diesel Kleen should be added for a 25 gal (98 litre) tank? I think the Standyne stuff is more concentrated.

Switching because of cost, right now.....

How much were you paying for your stanadyne vs the diesel kleen?

I use 8oz for every half tank and i have a 26 gal tank, I think Diesel Kleen is awesome for the money. I bought a little bottel of STP Diesel Fuel Injector Cleaner, dumped it into my tractor and fill it up with 8 oz of diesel kleen.

I use 8 oz, per what it says on the bottle.

I use about 1 oz. per three gallons of fuel.

Hey all. The bottle didn't have any mixing numbers. I bought the jug.

EMSi; The jug is 2.89 litres (I believe) bought at a Flying J for $15.69. Standyne was $28 for a 1/2 gal jug. About half the amount in volume. Both would have tax on top of. I'm switching because of my financial situation.....

Is Power Service and Standyne easy to find out in Alberta?

Thanx for all the replies.

You can find Power Service at Walmart. We didn't have any problems any of the times we've driven through Canada.

The jug I have only talks about increasing Cetane numbers. Add 16oz of PS to 25gal of #2 to up it 6 points or 8oz for 3 points.:confuzeld I only paid $11 for the 96oz jug, so my tank got 16oz. This is my first tank on it we'll see if it changes anything. I normally use 405, but I'm running low so figured I would try something else before I run completely out. Maybe a change is in order

Thanx for the info. We'll see how things work out.
I feel more confident with Standyne. But allot of people here seem to think the Power Service isn't bad stuff.

I'm getting Stanadyne in Red Deer. I have only used one bottle so far, haven't used additives otherwise. I paid $9 for the small bottle that was enough to treat 3 tank fulls. The UFA will have additive as well as Costco I believe. I don't know what flavours for sure however.

If it did you could increase your cetane rating by 45 points if you added 120 oz. Just my 2 cents.

I've used Diesel Kleen since my 2002 was new. I've got 35K miles on her with no problems.

I've been using Power Service products for almost a year now, and pleased with the results. Both the 1qt and 3qt bottles specify 1qt for 100 gallons. So it's 8oz for 25 gallons. I'm not sure how much extra you could safely add, or what the benefits would be. But both the Diesel Supplement and the Diesel Kleen are great products and available almost everywhere. Supplements are a "hot button topic", with as many opinions as supplements.

Fuel addative. Adds lubricating properties to the fuel. Sulfur in diesel is a lubricant. Now emmision laws demand low sulphur diesel. So most people recommend running an addative. Also helps with water in fuel. Raises cetane rating (higher cetane rating, more power) Same idea as octane in gas. Higher the octane rating, more power and more complete combustion.

Did I butcher that?

Where do you buy Diesel Kleen?

Any Wally World carries it. The silver bottle is for warmer weather, the white bottle is for the winter blend and below 0* to help prevent fuel gelling.

Up here I can only find it at Flying J truck stops.

Hey Max Owner is Diesel Kleen an emulsifier or demulsifier?

SteveNorCal

FYI,

Last year when I first started using PS, I wrote to PS and asked many questions about their product. In return I received a lot of info from a Brian Wilson (Tech. support). His email address is bwilson@powerservice.com And of course their website is www.powerservice.com (http://www.powerservice.com)

(They do NOT use any alcohol in their products and therefore are NOT emulsifiers!) :exactly:

I read that it seems to be neither. Someone (maybe Steve) e-mailed Power Service and posted allot of technical info on it.

Maybe the thread can be re found?

Just used some today for the first time, I don't think there was much of a increase in power. It did quiet the motor down considerably.

Just add the whole bottle, you'll be fine! That's what we do all of the time!

Not to start a war with others who disagree, but just for a different point of view (assuming we still get to have different points of view in the U.S today?)

I've owned diesels for many years trailering across country and had them run just great with no additives except in freezing weather! Some people just love additives and the companies that sell them love them right back! Remember when they changed to unleaded gas and it was going to ruin all the gas engines? Don't you think the diesel engine manufacturers can adapt engines for fuel changes just like the gasoline engines were adapted? You think the average '56 Chevy engine lasted longer than the average Toyota engine of today? I had a '56 Chevy and you didn't see many running strong at 300,000 miles like a few Toyotas I know around town!
I also don't buy oil with recommendations from race drivers! If it isn't proven with an "independent, controlled" test go slowly handing over your money! I guess we've all heard of the "placebo" affect! If you think it will work, it will probably work for you! I had a student who gave another kid gave a baby asprin as "drugs"! He fell out of his chair and was apparently heavily drugged until he found out it was only a baby asprin on the way to the principal! Hey, it happens to the best of us young and old! As they say in sporting goods business, "Fishing lures have to catch fishermen, not fish!"

Nicely put. I have only owned my one and only diesel for 1 year and 20K + my truck is running fine. At times I do add additives and others I dont. Truck does run quieter with the additives.

My question to anyone is this : with the new diesels coming to market being super low sulfers wouldnt it be wise to add at least a lubricant?
