What can one do to these trucks without voiding the warranty? intakes, programmers, tuners, exhausts? I heard if you delete the DPF it will void the warranty.
Thanks in advance

Just about any modification you make can potentially void some part of the warranty. If you are worried about it leave it stock and just do cosmetic upgrades. If you are looking ot add power without the ECM being flashed you could add an Banks 6 Gun or Edge Juice with attitude, but not install the pyrometer probe. This eliminates the safety factors built in to the modules and with Banks it won't let you run the speed loader tunes. Otherwise, you could add a DPF back exhaust, but some dealers have issues with those too.

On the other hand, I have been selling DPF delete kits to dealers themselves so there is a way to get around it somehow...

The more you read here, the more you'll learn. There are many ways around warranty issues, and many ways to improve your truck and make it more fun to drive. Good Luck.

Post a description of your truck in your signature to let the rest of us know what you've already done. It'll get you better feedback.

i just took my truck in for some recalls and the rear axle seal was leaking. ended up the locker broke in it. they said it would be under warranty. then they screwed me over. i have an 8 in lift. i also had the bully dog pmt for a while and they were able to tell that i had it on there. i got rid of the dpf but put it back on when i took it in, they never said anything about that. ya so i realy dont have a warranty now.

you can fight their denying the warranty on the rear locker. having bigger tires on the truck doesnt put any more stress on the truck than towing a 15000 pound trailer every day like it is rated for.

It doesnt make me sick. GM has been very clear that altering the ECM will result in warranty issues. You know the risks yet you choose to make the modifications anyways. GM should not be expected to pay for things that were potentially broken by aftermarket upgrades that cause more stress on drivetrain parts. And incase your not aware of this, rolling larger tires, especially significantly larger tires, as you would have with a 8" lift causes alot of changes with the way your truck runs. Mainly it causes the truck to run a significanly lower RPM then it should and really loads down the engine, Unless of course the truck has been re-geared. But even at that you are reaking havoc on your factory brakes. Larger tires cannot be compared to pulling a large trailer. While pulling a trailer your truck will be running an optimal RPM keeping the engine in its powerband and where its happy.

If you want to play, be prepared to pay. Plain and simple. If you can afford a 45-55K truck, thousands of dollars worth of additional performance parts, you should be able to afford to fix it when it breaks.

I learned somthing a long time ago. Its great to have toys, but you dont **** with your daily driver.

i argued with them for hours, then my ol man argued for probably 8 hours, they wouldn't budge on it at all, they just blamed it on the lift and programmer because they could pretty much. i was gettin sick of it and pissed off. so i just got a used rear axle for half the price and installed it. the dealership was going to fix it and had it torn apart and ordered the parts, then a regional manager came in and said that they weren't going to fix it under warranty. bla

Just one more reason not to mod my truck even though I don't like to hear guys going through this.My stock truck runs and does exactly what I want it to do.Maybe after warranty I may have a different thought on this but probably not.

I recently had a dealership and GM not honor the warranty due to abad MAF sensor, (was popping P0101), the dealer and GM claimed it was because I had a K & N air filter installed. Cost me $600 out of pocket. It had a happy ending though - K &N re-imbursed me for $600 plus what I originally paid for the filter!

I am sorry to hear about your problem. If I was you I would find another dealership. Most dealerships up hear have 6 to 10" lifts already installed on the truck because it easier for the consumer to finance the lift then to purchase the lift later down the road. My understanding is that the techs have to prove that your aftermarket device damaged the parts. Lift and oversized tires are very unlikely to cause the failure. I agree with bjadamsr6 that these trucks are designed to pull 15,000 lbs with no problem everyday. Programming is very unlikely as well. The transmission will be the first to go if enough power is added. Take the broken part to an expert and ask for their option. A good mechanic should be able to tell how and why the part broke.

If using the oiled K&N filters they can damage the MAF over time. Been seeing this for past few years.
