Nube question here...
I've searched on the P0090 code on this site. Everyone leans toward a FPRV. But,I only get the 0090 code without the 0089 code which seems to be its evil sibling.

I have an '01 with about 70K on it. I use it as a tow vehicle, so its only run a few times a week.
About a month ago while driving unloaded, it just dies. As I look for a place to pull over, it just starts running again without me trying to restart it. 2 weeks later I'm towing the boat after a 200 mile tow and while braking for a red light, it just dies again. Before I coasted to a stop, it starts running again. Now tonight my friend borrows the truck. He says it didn't start right up and when it did, it died after 10'. Cycled the ignition and it fired up and ran fine. Gets to my place the same thing happens in my driveway. scanned for codes.
Keep in mind the idle is fine, the truck pulls strong, no smoke. It throws a P0090 code and nothing else. I checked all the accessible plugs. Changed the fuel filter last week thinking that was it.
Does anyone think the FPRV is the culprit?

Thanks in advance

Any mods on the truck?

Just 4" exhaust. No program or other mods.
Re-checked the Bale connectors and nothing obviously out of whack or lose.

I did notice today that it won't rev past 2000 RPM in park. Is that a normal rev limiting thing? I've never tried it before. It will rev past 2K in neutral and in drive.

Still only throwing the P0090 code.

It still sounds like a bad connection somewhere. It may be the connection at the FPRV itself, or any of the wiring or connections in the entire circuit.

The randomness of the stalling, and the fact that it runs normal otherwise, just points to a bad connection or wiring. But, still don't rule out the FPRV itself, as it can have a bad connection in it as well.

The code is telling you that something abnormal happened in that circuit at some point in time, hence "Fuel Pressure Regulator Control Circuit".

Hope this helps somewhat.

Thanks Gary.
I'm thinking the same thing but have checked and shook all the connections while the truck was running hoping to get a stumble, but no luck.
I just hate to spend all that money for something that I may not actually need.
I'm going to take some stuff off the top of the motor and inspect the connection to the FPRV up close. If thats not the problem, I'll replace the valve.
I've seen a few diagrams on this site, so I have a good idea of where its buried.
