: LLY kicked my TPW back....LLY’s building on the 8th?
Well my dealer just called and my TPW got kicked back a week further.....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif
The dealer is not sure it's the LLY change that's causing the problem, but thinks so. TPW now 1-19-04.
Kool, I posted this question on one other thread, are you guys still on target to start LLY production Monday the 8th?Edited by: Zeeb
baimpala 12-06-2003, 01:29 PM Zeeb,
When did you order? I ordered mine on 9/27 and I am trying to get a feel for when I will get my baby.
Thanks,
Dennis
On Edit: OOPS! I meant 10/27. . . Called Dealer 12/8, "I have no idea. . . " Gee thanks.Edited by: baimpala
Dennis,
Quite a bit after you did, ordered 11-14-03. The factory picked it up in two days, issued a change order to the LLY engine the next day, got my first TPW of 1-12-04 two weeks to the day after the order.
Then today I got told the TPW got moved back.
BRUCE 12-06-2003, 05:41 PM ZEEB ORDERD NOV1 TPW 12/8. HAD THAT CHANGE OF ORDER LIKE YOU DID ABOUT 11/24, DEALER SAID CHANGE TO LLY. CHECKED WITH HIM TODAY 12/6 TRUCK WAS BUILT ON 12/3. I SHOULD HAVE VIN NUMBER TUES, WED. I CANT WAIT TO SEE 8TH DIGIT. EITHER WAY ITS A HELL OF A TRUCK, BUT IT WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE EXTRA POWER. I'LL POST WHEN I SEE NUMBER SO EVERYONE CAN SEE IF THE CHANGE IS MADE. OF COURSE TPW OF 1/12 YOU WILL SURELY HAVE LLY. MY CASE IS QUESTIONABLE. I'LL LET EVERYONE KNOW.

Extra power is just a JUICE or Quadzilla away.....
Don't sweat the small stuff...........

hey sorry havent been around yeah tomarow is full blown LLY they have some on the line but none completed...but tomarow is the day that we start full blown productionhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
BIG DIPPER 12-07-2003, 06:25 PM My info was that the first LLY trucks would be built on Thursday and Friday, but only a handful at that. I believe there are only to be 8 or so built on these 2 days. The following week will begin full production at the Pontiac East plant.Edited by: BIG DIPPER
I guess we'll have to wait and see what goes on. Kool had originally said that production of the engines was supposed to start on 12-04, but later changed that to 12-08. That was after the initial reports of production starting the first of November, then the middle, then Dec 4.
I can't see how they could start building trucks even on the 4th, and get engines from Ohio to Michigan on the same day. I suspect that engines won't even start being shipped for at least a day or two, (I don't know how many they can build per day, nor how many go in a shipment, but suspect it's probably a rail car full) Then they've got to get to the plants in Michigan before they can build trucks. That delay would seem to account for why my TPW is two full months from order date...
Bruce's truck was built on Dec. 3, but I believe he's getting a CC which is built in Flint, while the RC's and EC's are built in Pontiac, which is now known as "Pontiac Assembly" according to Howard and GM's web site.
BRUCE 12-09-2003, 04:27 PM ZEEB: YOU ARE RIGHT MY TRUCK IS A CC. THOUGHT I POSTED THAT, SORRY. STILL DONT KNOW FOR SURE WHICH ENGINE. WHEN I KNOW EVERYBODY WILL KNOW. ALSO 2 WD. STILL NO VIN ,STILL NO DELIVERY DATE
GMCSID 12-09-2003, 07:48 PM If you post your order number I can see if it's on the list of changed orders for the new engine.
baimpala 12-09-2003, 07:51 PM All I have is SON: GTXNRV Orderd 10/27, dealer said GM picked up order on 11/18 or 11/19
BRUCE 12-09-2003, 08:41 PM GMCSID: WOW, THANKS IF YOU CAN TELL ME. ORDER NUMBER IS GTPJO7. BUT LIKE I HAVE SAID BEFORE EITHER WAY IS A HELL OF A TRUCK. THANKS AGAIN.
GMCSID 12-09-2003, 10:13 PM GTXNRV is on the LB7 to LLY list. GTPJO7 is not on the list but that just means the ordered wasn't changed from LB7 to LLY, it could have been ordered with LLY depending on the date ordered. After 11/18 all were ordered with LLY. (all that LLY comes in)
RUQWKNF27 12-09-2003, 10:22 PM If i were to order a Duramax Truck by friday what are the chances I could get it by the first of the year. GMCSID you seem to know a lot.. Thanks

Well I'm not Sid, but I'll take a shot at this one....
Somewhere between none and none...
I've seen dealers on rare occasion, and I mean really rare, get a truck in four weeks. Averages are six to eight weeks without going through an engine model change.Mine's looking like ten to twelve weeks right now, and that could change to something longer.
baimpala 12-09-2003, 11:28 PM Dealers in my area when I ordered were saying about eight weeks. I talked to mine on Monday 12/8, and he said he didn't have a good feel for how long right now. Part of that sounds like dealerese, but I would suspect the eight weeks would be fairly reasonable.
Dennis
baimpala 12-09-2003, 11:29 PM GMCSID,
Thanks for the info, it makes the wait a little more bareable!
Dennis
BRUCE 12-10-2003, 09:55 AM GMCSID: THANKS FOR INFO, ORDER WAS PICKED UP ON 11/6. A CHANGE OF ORDER CAME DOWN ABOUT 11/24. BUT IT LOOKS LIKE LB7, AND THATS OK WITH ME. WITHOUT POLLUTION CONTROLS WILL BE EASIER TO BUMP UP POWER A LITTLE WITH OUT BREAKING ANY LAWS. I GUESS WE WILL JUST HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE WHAT COMES THROUGH. THANKS AGAIN!
kwsundell 12-10-2003, 03:48 PM http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif I tried to order a 3500 CC SRW 4WD LB yesterday and the computer wouldn't accept it. Regional guys told my salesman that there was a huge order placed recently which created a backlog. Isn't sure if he'll be able to place order before the first of the year.
Can anyone confirm???
GMCSID 12-10-2003, 07:21 PM I don't know much about the sales side. I just have access to the order change list.

I would bet your dealer is out of allocation. Try another dealer in the area.... I haven't heard of any issues other than normal start-up stuff...
BRUCE 12-11-2003, 10:43 AM GOT VIN. NUMBER TODAY 12/11. TRUCK MADE 12/3 , IS STILL LB7. THAT IS FINE WITH ME. I THINK LLY'S HAVE EVERYONES TPW'S BACKED UP PRETTY GOOD. TRUCK IS IN TRANSIT, HERE GOES ANOTHER WAIT!

Congrats!
I've said here before, that had I been able to find a truck with the equipment I wanted anywhere in the Denver zone, I'd have bought it without thinking twice about it.
The LLY could be a blessing or a curse, but at this point I'm just hoping it doesn't get kicked back again. Judging by what Kool said about production being really slow, it could be an even longer wait that the 10 to 12 weeks I'm looking at now.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Disapprove.gif
Well it's good news from my dealer today....
GM pushed the TPW forward to where it was orginally and it's been committed to production....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Kool and the guys in Moraine must be getting things going on the LLY's.
Maybe I'll have that new "baby" by the first of February after all...
Dmax Tim 12-20-2003, 01:53 PM Well I got a big decision now that the ugly front Chevy came in first.
My dealer ordered me a GMC and Chevy on Nov.18 (same as I now have different color). He called a couple days ago and told wife the GMC is on its way.
I called the next day and the Chevy came in, Chevy confirmed LB7 built Dec.11 and it is in transit.
I called dealer this morning and it was delivered last nite ( 4 weeks from order to delivery is FAST).
I called GMC and STILL no TPW.
So what do I do wait for the LLY GMC or take an ugly nosed Chevy LB7 and the extra rebates/bonus $$$.
So what do I do wait for the LLY GMC or take an ugly nosed Chevy LB7 and the extra rebates/bonus $$$.
That's a toughy for you, but for me it's simple. I don't get to trade trucks like you do, I did at one point in my life but not now.
So for me, everytime I went into the garage, or approached it in a parking lot, I'd be regretting the fact that I did not wait. In fact there was a Chevy pretty much like I wanted, in SLC about 30 miles north of me I could have bought before ordering. I didn't even know about the LLY then, but I just don't like that grill.
You wouldn't have it that long, so I guess your dilema is twofold...
LLY or guaranteed rebates. I think/hope GM will continue with some sort of kickback after the current one expires since they are working and that is the slowest sales time of the year we are entering into. I haven't a clue what they'll do with the In The Driveway certs, but that won't make much difference in my case. As far as the LLY goes, if it's a hit with few or no new problems, you'll kick yourself for not waiting. IF it develops something of a reputation for problems related to the changes, you'd be glad you took the LB7.
I of course am biased on this point. I'm quite excited about the new engine...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
Just my two cents worth....http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Geek.gif
baimpala 12-21-2003, 05:30 PM Dmax Tim,
Sounds like you've already made your decision. If you don't like the front end of the Chevy, wait for the GMC. Good luck either way. . .
Dennis
Newguy 12-23-2003, 09:50 AM When has there ever NOT been rebates of some sort on GM products?
From the last 3 years or so that I have been watching they do fluctuate from time to time and typically get agressive for the close out of a model year.
Wait and get what you REALLY want. I have made the mistake 2 times of settling for something less and end up trading it in or selling it before 1 year is up.
