a few weeks ago, there was a thread discussing the behind rear seat options for crew cabs. the dee zee organizer doesnt fit as someone found out and the DUHA unit is very expensive. so i made my own. i used a 1x10 for the back, 1x6 for the front and 1x4 for the bottom. fits and works perfectly and cost me less than $15. im going to take it back out and paint it but here are the pics.

the first pic is the wasted space previously. notice that the seats wont fold all the way down due to the stuff i have under them (60% part is folded down as far as it will go, 40% isnt due to headrest still being in).

2nd and 3rd pics are my solution. notice seats are flat since i only have a couple items under the seat now.

last pic is my before situation.

one other FYI, i bought some tool bags from home depot (sold in sets of 2 near tool belts). they are nylon zippered bags and are perfect for storing stuff. i have all my bungee cords in one and use others to store my chains. this way they dont get the truck nasty, are easy to grab and move and are organized much better. i think the set of 2 is like $12. they are 2 sizes, one is probably about 10" long and the other is probably 12".

Where did you get the seat covers?

they are expensive ($400 for whole set) but well worth it. on my old truck i had the cheap elastic slip on ones. these are custom fit and look like the truck was made with them on. there is a separate piece for each armrest, headrest, rear fold down armrest, etc. they are dupont cordura and totally waterproof. i highly recommend them. let me know if you want more info or pics.

Is that $400 for front buckets and rear? I've been thinking of some sort of "personal" accent color scheme.

I think you should bring that to an upolsterer and have it matched to the interior. It would make a nice install super clean.:thumb:

txguppy - it was $400-450 total. i think $250 for the front buckets and $150 for the rear, plus the headrest piece were a few bucks extra and shipping.

berk - good idea on the covering, ill see if i can work that out!

i am also gonna mount a fire extinguisher on the side of the box so it is in easy reach. you may notice the CB box back there, i spliced in a cig lighter plug on the cb and have a 3' fiberglass magnet antenna under that little spring loaded flap in the back (under the organizer box) so if i want to use the cb it hooks up quick but i didnt have to perm mount it. just FYI for those like me that dont use theirs daily.

Don't use mine daily either but it's well worth it to me not to have to worry about the antenna falling off.. had that happen on my dakota and nearly took out my rear window.
