yup as the title states 21000mi on my original fuel filter. My buddy and I cut it open afterwards and suprisingly enough there wasn't much dirt. no rust at all.

Can't figure out why anyone would change oil without changing the filter... JMHO

http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/mad.gif OOPS... Shoulda' read more carefully! I was thinking of a fuel filter change at 15,000 for me...

Sorry!

I've got you beat. 34000 miles on my first fuel filter-the original. I'll be changing it every 15000 miles from here on out.

If I tried to stretch it, with my luck, the thing would run just beautifully but take a hugh dump on me 30 miles back in the woods. Think I'll just keep changing it every 10,000 miles no matter what.

So I go to the stealer to have them change the fluids I know I should have done it myself but you know nasty weather and no garage didnt feel like laying in the mud:blahblah: Anyhow I ask them to change the oil, filter, the fuel filter and the trans filter, Guy "A" is in the shop he already changed the fuel filter, got the truck on the lift and the service manager comes in and says "Why do you want to change the fuel filter?" I says cause I do, He says" We dont recomend changing the fuel or trans filter till 20K miles, I have a lil over 6K on my truck. So I tell him it really dosent matter because guy A already changed it so just do what I ask and I will be happy He gets stupid look on his face and goes to talk to guy A. Anyhow I guess it is ok with GM if you only change your filters every 20K or so.......Not me

I'm curious, since my 04 lly was nearly new (50 miles) I put the Racor 2 micron fuel filter prior to the factory filter. I now have 10000 miles and am about to change the fuel filter(s). But it occurs to me that I probably shouldn't have to change the factory 15 micron one because I am doing all the cleaning prior. Does this seem like a reasonable thought or is it just common safety sense to replace both?

This is good news to me, because I've read on this forum about guys changing them up at like 1500 miles and stuff. This is the first time I've seen guys running them this long. My truck just turned over to 7000 this week and I'm thinking "What kinda slacker am I still running the original fuel filter?" I guess I can put it off a bit longer....
