: Price of Allison deep pan
GET_IT_RAG 10-08-2008, 06:03 AM I called a nearby Allison dealer to see if they had the allison deep pan in stock. For a spin on filter, deep pan filter, deep pan and 5 gallons of transyd they wanted like $286. Is this a good price or can I find a better deal?
rtquig 10-08-2008, 07:09 AM Transynd itself is around $150 for the 5 gallon pail. spin on filter $10., deep filter and pan $80-$100. They are not out of line on their price.
GET_IT_RAG 10-08-2008, 07:35 AM thanks for the help. I read on here that using transyd will reduce trans temps by 50 degrees? How accurate is that?
Ramblinrodney 10-08-2008, 08:13 AM I ran Transynd For one year, about 16k and didn't see a temp drop.
enahs 10-09-2008, 01:24 AM I don't believe that running a TES 295 fluid like Transynd or Mobil Delvac will lower trans temps. But these fluids do manage the heat better than the non-synthetics, and they definitely make for better cold weather lubrication. I am running Mobil Delvac — and my temps are staying down. But that's due to the Mike L. cooler that I also added (along with the deep pan). The Transynd or Mobil should run you about $175 for a five gallon bucket (which you need), the pan another $60, and the filters (internal and spin on) another $20 or so — for a total of about $255. Their price is not out of line for the entire package. If you have a trans heat issue, these steps, taken together, will help a lot.
GET_IT_RAG 10-09-2008, 06:10 AM Where can I get Mobil Delvac? I can't seem to find it.

I have never seen a 50 degree drop using transynd. Onlyl the winter weather drops my trans temp when not towing. If I decide to tow heavier than my current fifth wheel, (about 8500lb loaded) I will change to the deeper pan.
Ramblinrodney 10-09-2008, 08:43 AM GET IT RAG I live alittle over 2hrs away. It probably wouldn't be worth it but you could have my Allison deep pan and filter lock. The dealer had to take mine off and replace it with factory one to do warranty work.
davelbz 10-09-2008, 09:42 AM Hi,
I put the deep Mag-hytec pan and Amsoil in mine, and it runs the same temp! I really feel the pan would help the trans not to twist. I feel better for doing it.

That is a good price-- some aftermarket pans are that much without the Transyd oil. Good insurance for the trans-- Do not over fill the trans when you put the pan on.
wet_rat 10-09-2008, 11:26 AM Bought mine yesterday. $48 for the pan, $19 for the filter-$15 shipping. $45 for a case of Castrol Dex VI, $15 for spin on filter, $65 for Transgo jr--3 hours of my time and wala

This site will give you Mobil dealers in your state. However, large truck service and parts houses often carry it for less than the distributor will sell it to you. Like Transynd, it's not something you'll find at your local Auto Zone, or NAPA. Rodney — strange your dealer had to take the pan off for warranty work — my dealer was the first one to suggest that I put one on for the trans heating problem I had. Allison made the same recommendation. Both recommended a TES 295 fluid and even a larger cooler. No mention was made of warranty issues. Clearly, not all dealers are on the same page.
