I was wondering if anyone has installed just the ats co-pilot in there allison. If they have how much has it helped? How much power will it hold to the wheels or flywheel. I know i should install a full ats but i cant afford that right know and i thought this would be better than getting something else that i cant use when i do get a full tranny. I now have a edge hot juice with attitude and the duramaximizer and need a little tranny help it doesnt slip much but i havent ran both chips up on kill a lot. all help would be appriciated thanks

Sounds like you may need a transgo and good Torque Converter instead. That combo is proven to work, I think it will run you about 2500 installed. I think its still up in the air whether or not a co-pilot would be beneficial by itself. I would pm Mike L. to see what he thinks.

The co-pilot is a good upgrade, but it wouldnt be my first choice for a standalone. If the trans has been hurt already, its not gonna do anything anyways. Like Slick said, a transgo is a proven low budget mod, but if your thinking of going to an ATS trans, then I wouldnt do that as you mixing oil and water.

and if anyone has installed the ats co-pilot how hard is it to put in. is it just the valve body or is there a lot more to it. Thats why I wanted to get the co-pilot because I can use it for when i get the rest of the tranny upgraded instead of getting a transgo shift kit.:ro)

Gotta drop the trans to change a spring. Its not difficult but the fact you are dealing with a 300+# trans can make things difficult

co pilot kit alone does not include the pump spring, you have to get the pump upgrade kit for that..

How much more power do you think you may want to run down the road?

In that case I would save the $$$ for a full meal deal trans and be done with it. Better too much than not enough.

I put the CoPilot in first, ran it alone for a couple of months. Turned up it would shift firmer than stock, but IMHO it won't hold any more than stock, I zinged the tranny with the CoPilot at will with the Quad 135 on the freeway.. wait and do it all.

You have to change the C-2 return spring set on the transco SK. This is just behind the pump.
