I'm not the least bit sure, so I thought I'd ask. How warm does the rear diff get? I looked under the truck the other day (it was in the high 20'sF), and the rear diff was steaming. It was damp out, so water had gotten all over the axle. Is this normal? Thanks.

Check your fluid level... Alot of the trucks came way LOW.... Would cuase a good bit of heat to form...

Follow-up question...how do I check it? Is there a dipstick or something? I'll hand-temp check it when I get home; I drive about 60 miles. It just really suprised me with the steam. Thanks!

My axle has been hot to the touch from the day I bought the truck. Changed the diff. oil at 500 mi. replaced it with the OEM's $28 a quart grape juice, all 4 qts. Well 7000 miles later it is still hot when I tow. Maybe its ok? Don't know.
