: 2003 GMC Sierra, Passenger Door Electronics dead
Corwin 03-13-2005, 11:24 PM Anyone know what cause the passenger door electronics to go dead this would include
door lock
door lock switch
power window
remote power mirror on passenger side as well does not work
heated seat
I checked the inside door and pulled plugs out and put them back in and are seem very good for connections.
Also the wierd thing is also the remote used to lock and unlock doors does not work.
Everything on drivers door works fine though such as locks and power windows for the other doors but the passenger windows does not work, and when you lock and unlock doors on driver side the passenger door does not lock or unlock.
Anyone have any thought as what it could be, no warranty left on truck so would like find if it is something simlpe I could fix or replace myself.
Max Power 03-13-2005, 11:28 PM The passenger door module is likely shot.
Corwin 03-13-2005, 11:30 PM The passenger door module is likely shot.
Where would this be located and any idea of cost?
Would this most likely be the same thing that is making the keyless remote not working also?
Max Power 03-13-2005, 11:35 PM In the passenger door. Yes this would also cause the keyless entry remote to not work.
Contact dmaxallitech for a price. I think I have seen them with FOB's for under $100 but I might be wrong.
haneym 03-14-2005, 09:47 AM holy crap thats really wierd, i just posted cause the exact same thing happened on my truck yesterday morning. one note, on mine, you can roll the window down using the switch on the passenger door, but not the drivers door. is this consistent with what you are saying max power?
Corwin 03-14-2005, 11:44 AM Thanks for posts but wondering if anyone else comfirm what "Max Power" is saying about the issue, like to get a second opinion on it.
Also thinking the module would be in the passenger door not the dirvers door, as thats the door that is dead. As thinking not many wires going into passenger door, so one would be the data send wire that goes to that module that sends codes to other items on what to do as far a mirror, window, and locks.
Max Power 03-14-2005, 12:08 PM Sorry, I meant passenger door. I corrected my typo.
The only way you can diagnose it for sure is with tech 2 or another module. Sorry.
BlueOx03 03-14-2005, 12:18 PM I'm betting on bad door modules as well....

haneym 03-14-2005, 02:14 PM corwin, wait a day or two before you order anything. since my truck is still under warranty, i will be taking it to the dealer this afternoon or tomorrow and will let you know what they say. i did notice that last night, the passenger window worked via the passenger door switch but today at lunch, that did not work. also, my window lock on the drivers side (locks all windows except from control at drivers door) does not function, so its on the same circuit.
BlueOx03 03-14-2005, 04:06 PM Those door modules run off data so they pretty much just have 12v Ground and data going in. Usually when something electronic goes, it doesn't come back. That said, it's starting to sound as if you have a bad ground and/or power connection. Have either of you had any after market stuff ran though the jams? Just some other possibilities...

haneym 03-14-2005, 07:46 PM alright, the culprit was the passenger side switch module. the service guy said the remote unlock runs through it. i swung by the dealer on the way home and they checked it out and replaced it. part was $107. part # 15125161. it must be easy to replace b/c they had it done in about 15 min. mine is still under warranty for another 800 miles so i didnt have to pay a dime.
the wierd thing is when i pulled in the driveway saturday night, everything worked fine. i rolled up the windows and locked the truck with the remote. nothing was touched and sunday morning i walked out of the house and the remote unlock didnt work. somehow it went out during the night when nothing was on. wierd.
anyways, just wanted to let you know corwin. good luck.
BTW, i just checked www.gmpartsdirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/) and they have the part for $76.50, maybe someone with a repair manual can tell you where its located.
EDIT - oh yea, one other thing is they had to reprogram my remote unlock. i have to bring my other one by for them to do as well. i dont know if this is something you could do yourself or if you would need the dealer to do it.
Max Power 03-14-2005, 07:58 PM It is the actual door lock/power window switch. The modules and switches are all in one.
Corwin 03-15-2005, 01:16 AM Soemtimes I hate that I reside in Canada, as alot of really good places to buy things through will not ship to Canada and of course www.gmpartsdirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/) is one of them.
Going to pass by a dealer tomorrow, thanks guys for all your posts on my topic.
Max Power 03-15-2005, 10:26 AM dmaxallitech will ship to Canada. He is better shipping prices then gmpartsdirect too!
Corwin 03-31-2005, 04:10 PM gmdieseltech worked out to be $125.00 including shipping, where gmpartsdirect is $76 just for the part.Have an email into gmpartsdirect asking if they would be so kind to ship to me in Canada. Thought gmdieseltech pricing would have been a little better then it was.
Corwin 04-01-2005, 06:55 PM Got the part today from a GM dealer in my area that discounted the price for me pretty good. After replacing part myself asked if they could program the transmitters, and their tech guy was just to busy to do it at the time where going to charge $25 also. Went to another dealer and same thing to busy, and same charge $25. Thought try one more, and all he did was print some instructions off then came out and did it without the programmer device. Silly that the other dealers didn't know his simple method of doing it, and thought they needed a programmer.
Thanks to haneym (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/member.php?u=7385)<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_516768", true); </SCRIPT> for posting the part number, this made it really easy for me.
