i read on another message board that there is an overseas option on the mini-cooper that gets 60 mpg, that would be the bomb!

Subura????

They make a nice looking diesel, unfortunately it appears to be one of those that us in the states can't get due to emissions.

There was an article awhile back in Diesel Power about an upcoming Boxer diesel that was to come here to the States.

yeah, it's a jetta. i think it's called a TDI - At least 50 mpg, and I guess you can chip them and get almost 60... unbelievable huh?

Actually, the diesel Beetle gets even better mileage than the Jetta up until the newest ones (the new engine isn't available in the Beetle yet.)

Yeah I'd say diesel VW, TDI is turbo diesel injection, But they seem to get the most mpg's without much effort. You can find them all over too, they haven't died off

I have a 2000 TDI Jetta, bone stock it got 45 in town and 48 on the freeway. I put a Van Aaken box on it and it gained 3 MPG in town and out. Now i have injectors in it too, and it picked up another 3 MPG.

A TDI Golf (or rabbit for new cars) should get a mile or two better MPG than the Jetta.

I recently drove a new 2009 Jetta with the DSG automatic....very impressive automobile.

BTW.... TDI is Turbo Direct Injection ..... which when it came to the states way back in 1996 was a big deal since MB still had IDI diesels in their cars.
