I took a little trip today, first time with the juice installed and noticed my EGTs were running 900 to 1000 degrees empty, is this what everyone is seeing, there was a decent wind I was fighting, but I-70 in kansas always presents that? ):h

Got Juice?

Seems a little high by LB7 Standards... what kind of wind was that? 40 mph headwind?

Yeah it prob. was at least that, I ran the juice on level 1 to see if it helped my milage..it didnt, so I turned it back to three.

I actually saw the worst MPGs ever this trip, juice on lev 1 interstate 11.9, filled up with prem. diesel in Wray Colorado($1.27) bumped the juice to lev 3 and got 13-14 mpgs for the rest of the trip? but I did see a noticeably puff of white smoke when I started the moter after fueling, I havent got the flash done yet and under 4000 miles on the truck, so its prob not completely broke in yet.

Something doesn't seem right there.....my old outdated LB7 runs 400-600 F on the highway at 80 mph......

Leave the emergency brake on or forgot to weigh anchor? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif

The higher the elevation is, the higher the average temps are going to be as well. The higher you are, the less oxegen there is to burn, compressor or not (based on atmosphiric pressures). Any one doubt this, come to upper Colorado for a run. You will not only feel less power but see higher temps as well. Need to see what my 8000+lb dooley will run at sea level. Now where did that super tranny go?

SD, 9W3 is in frickin' Kansas!

Doesn't get much flatter / lower than that!

It's about what mine is at those boost levels.

looks about right to me. I run about 750-820 down the freeway at about 75 mph pushing 6.8-7.2 lbs of boost about 100 feet above sea level. If I'm not mistaken Kansas is fairly high in altitude. Flat but high.

Bingo on the altitude bigblockquad. Relax nwpadmax, deep breaths man. Kansas rises from about 1000ft elevation to just over 4000 ft elevation. Depends on where he is driving at. I drive every day at 5300-9000+ in the winter and 5300-14000ft in the summer. I also drive at sea level on trips, and I know just how altitude affects power and EGTs. The edge runs hotter at moderate (and above) levels as well. Looks about right for about 3000ft elevation and running the edge, to me.

Your pyro must have been post turbo for those numbers. The only time I see that is tooling around town. On the hwy I'm between 700 and 900° constantly.

Post turbo? You must be kidding. Who does that??? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

No, pre-turbo. I checked this morning, 12 F outside, running 80 mph, just touching 700F going up hills on the highway.

Bwaaahahaha! My truck is cool! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif

Also running maybe 4-5 psi boost, Edge on 125 HP.

SD, I'm relaxed as can be, but I have to admit that I didn't know Kansas got to 4000 ft elevation.

I did some digging.....interesting.....

My hometown is at 1364 feet and where I work is 901 feet. That's a lot bigger difference that I would have thought.

I'll check it tomorrow on the way home going uphill.

Now where's my altimeter..... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif

In northwest/central Ohio (very flat, low elevation) I run between 520-700 on the highway no matter what speed I am traveling. The only time the EGT's go beyond that is if I am passing someone.

I kellekted some datar on an uphill trip home on 79N this morning.

Set Cruise for 75. I haven't corrected the speedo for 265/75 tires so I might be a tad faster. Also have a cap and about 500 lb ballast in the back for bad weather (that ins't leaving yet). Juice on 125 HP and outside temp 29F.

ever so slight upgrade: 6 psi boost, 650F
normal PA easy hill: 8 psi, 700F
short flat section: 5 psi, 600F
slight downgrade, coasting more or less, 4 psi, 525F
next normal PA easy hill: 9 psi, 750F
next slight upgrade: 8psi, 700F
big hill (slows semis good) 13 psi, 800F
next easy hill, quick burst to 85 MPH to pass, 20 psi, 900F

'Bout the same as what Dan says above, probably similar elevations.

There are a few places in western Kansas on the Colorado border that are close to 4K feet elevation. 74 miles east of the border it is under 3K and drops all the way across the state. Later! Frank
