rockinduramax 10-04-2008, 09:28 AM hey guys i got a 2007 classic and wanna black out my lights. what would be the best way to go? im in the mountains a lot so i still need my light and i no with the covers it affects the lighting a lot. what other ways could i go or is there a way to remove the covers when i needed to? any suggestions or info will help a lot.... thx
148CMEUPHI 10-04-2008, 12:40 PM VHT nite shades. It's a translucent paint. I used it on my tails. You put as many coats on as you like. Make it dark or just a little smoked.
And use some good clear coat over it.

CHAD04LB7 10-04-2008, 08:05 PM Any Body Shop Can Do A Smoke Job For Cheep...just Have Them Do Your Tail And Marker Lights. Not Your Hi's And Low's Or Your Reverse Lights. It Looks Sharp And Doesnt Effect Head Lights.
06SIXSPEEDMANUAL 10-04-2008, 09:10 PM I had my tail lights done. The headlight covers just snap on, I've had them pretty much since the truck was new.
Crank 10-04-2008, 10:50 PM How much has it cost you folks to get your tails tinted from a body shop? I'm wanting to have mine done and wonder how much it'd cost. Thanks
Brandon

06SIXSPEEDMANUAL 10-05-2008, 08:15 AM Yeah I use to have covers on the rear, then I had them painted after I seen a couple of them done on here. I got my covers from Summit racing. They only cost like $$40
rockinduramax 10-05-2008, 09:23 AM so if i wanted to have em sprayed and went into a body shop would they know how to do it? i live in a small town and there are only two body shops in the area
varty yo 10-06-2008, 12:21 AM little off topic but why does recon not make smoked tailights for the classic body style?

The recons should fit....my cab lights didn't list the 01 which is what I have and they worked.....i have smoked recons all around and love them
rgullett83 10-06-2008, 05:55 PM when we did my taillights, we mixed 3parts clear to 1 part black, and put 3 coats on way to dark, wet sanded them, and recleared, perfect still looks solid black, and light shines through well. If I was going to smoke the headlights, I would probably still go with a 3:1 mixture, but apply light coats, to preferred darkness. Can always be wetsanded to allow light back through.
rgullett83 10-06-2008, 05:56 PM Port that is a good looking truck
DieselDuner 10-09-2008, 10:05 AM Try Lund................they make covers that easily come off and on and look great. I have put them on both of my last trucks and they are outstanding.

That is the thread i posted when i sprayed my tail lights. I decided to go with the pre cut tint for the head lights and i hate it! the tint is way too small and almost impossible to make look perfect. I'm either going to paint the them or get black outs and just remove the headlight covers at night. hope this helps.
rockinduramax 10-13-2008, 09:51 PM what about the avs light covers i've found those ones. do they just pop on and off? of if anyone has a link or part numbers for the GT stylin one that would be better.
heavychey24 10-13-2008, 10:42 PM i have the avs covers and you just have to pop the hood and pop them off, piece of cake.
