Its a gasser, 454 to be exact, coil on plug, MAF and throttle actuated control. No codes. Going along at highway speed it will randomly die. There is no miss, no sputter, just flat out dies like you shut the key off. It acts just like a throttle body injected engine with a bad ignition module. After it sits a few minutes it will start right back up and may die again or or may run just fine from then on. Anybody ever known one of these to do this? It acts almost like a crank shaft position sensor yet it should be tossing a code out if thats the case.

We had a 6.0 gas 2500 HD at work that did this at one time and the guy they took it to cleaned out the throttle flap area with some brake clean and it has done just fine after that.

i had a 1500 that did the same thing when the crankshaft sensor went bad. dealer said the crankshaft was tapping the sensor. they backed it off a bit and it did fine. no codes were thrown.

I had a 454 with headers that were so close to the positive starter cable even the factory heat shielding on the cable burnt away and the cable would short if the engine torqued just a little. I would be going down the freeway and if I just pushed the throttle a little bit the torque of the engine would pull on the cable and cause it to short on the starter heat shield cover, the engine would die.
I discovered this when I wiggled the positive cable and saw sparks down by the starter. I replaced the cable and the same thing happened about two years later. This time I wrapped the cable with a 2000° heat wrap and the problem has not re-occurred.
