: 2004 Hood/Grille Conversion to 2005
SonnyBear 03-13-2005, 07:54 PM Just wanted to share a photo of the completed switch over to the 2005 HD hood and grille. The final cost was about $1600.
I also posted a photo of the original hood and grille.
A bit pricey, but I like the look of the 2005 better.
Reineke 03-13-2005, 08:02 PM Looks good! Job well done!
T-Rex 03-13-2005, 08:08 PM Looks good.
So the parts... Was it simply the hood and grille or were there some other small pieces involved...hardware or whatever??
ssduramax 03-13-2005, 08:10 PM did you have to swap anything other than the hood and grill to make it work?
oh yeah, looks awsome, good job!
SonnyBear 03-13-2005, 09:19 PM Thanks.
The parts you need aside from the hood and grille, are the paintable front clips that are between the headlights and the hood insulator.
That's all you need. I spent more than I should have because I ordered all the parts through the dealer. Using the GM Parts direct website will save about $400.
Easy mod. and cheaper than buying a new 2005.
tophog 03-13-2005, 09:36 PM Very nice! Now that it's 2 year newer should help the resale :) I like it better then my bigmouth.

Easy install, bolt-over onto the grille. You can also buy the "cut-out" type, but those are pricey installs.
StraitDiesel 03-14-2005, 11:36 PM When you order the new hood, does it come painted, or does the dealer or independent shop have to paint it?

DanIt comes unpainted. The shop painted it to match my color.

Turfmower 03-16-2005, 04:58 PM Which one is the 2005?
I like the one on the left better.
Jeff@SGLC 03-16-2005, 06:13 PM Turf man, I think you just shot down his conversion lol. The one on the right is the 05.
