I also know that this is kinda a bad place for a question like this, but I don't really see any good place for it. I also plan on trying to find an 05.

Anyway, my question is, I would like to try to find an 05 Dmax. Is that a good year for the Dmax or should I be looking for one of the other engines?

I know injectors have been a problem with them, anything else I should keep an eye out for?

I had an 02 that I was completely satisfied with until some punks in a stolen car totalled it out. From what I see/hear/read, the LB7 gets the best mileage of the bunch. I am currently in an 05 and I am pretty happy with it. Mileage is about 1mpg less. My Hypertech does not work with it and the mods I made. I tried to find an 02 to replace the old one but the mileage on most of them was pretty significant. If you can find an LB7 with good miles....go for it. If you find an LLY, read up on this blog. It id'ed some problems that I had the dealer fix before I even took it off the lot.

05 LLY's are great! I love mine. It had the injector problem, but i fixed it using the ice pick method. And i replaced the water pump, and that turned out to be a loose bolt, but it got replaced anyway.

I know about the steering and guage clusters, the injector harness I am not to concerned with.
Other then that I haven't seen anything really bad.

No problems with the LLY. 54K miles. Just good maintenance and 100% stock.

I had 80k on mine when i got rid of it, ran great the whole time.
