I just found out that the Hypertech Turners are designed for Stock Diesels from their tech dept. No air or exhaust mods required. I would only use the level one or two as I'm just looking for economy. Any new experiences? I saw some older posts, ust looking for new comments.

I did look at their dyno graphs and saw that HP & Torque did not start separating until after 2,000 RPMs. Would I not see any economy gains until then? I tow a 13,000 fVR USUALLY AROUN D 16 - 18,000 rpms. I just went from SE MO to the Wisc Dells (1,400 miles round trip) and got 10.6 MPG probably averaging 62 MPH.Truck is bone stock 2005 DURAlly 2500.

The Hypertech tuning on my '06 dually created a lot of smoke when towing which blacked up the side of our fiver and is damned near impossible to clean. Your right, the power gains are above 2,000 rpm and I saw no economy gains. I've got a Hypertech tuner that I would sell you really cheap but then of course you would have to pay them 150 bux to reset it so it can be used on your truck.

I had one in my truck for a while and it was a good tuner. Nice power gains. I did not notice any gains in economy. I switched over to PPE, so my Hypertech power programmer is for sale..

the Hypertech is a very good entry level mild programmer. you cna tow on any performance level and they still make great power, it's just not as aggressive as some of the others out there. i know business owners that will only run Hypertech programmers b/c they are so safe that their guys can't hurt anything.
