Where could i buy a fuel filter that is better that oem. Ive heard that water in fuel wreaks havoc on the injectors so i was wondering if an upgraded fuel filter is a safe bet?

I think all would agree here that the AC Delco is the best as an OEM but the most expensive. Other brands are also very good including Wix/Napa Gold, Baldwin. I would look into putting a Nicktane system or another similar one to give extra filtration. Nick is a vendor on this site as well as others, Kennedy also comes to mind. Look at the vendor section.

search the pre oem fuel filter. some are adding a fuel and water separator filters inline back just in front of the fuel cooler. I have mounted the 2 micron fuel filter to mine. the thread will show pics and alot of howto's

I've always used Baldwin filters. Since, GM has a spec for the fuel filter on the Duramaxes that was implemented in 2005, all of the newer fuel filters (double pleat) perform about the same. Here's a filter test comparison between the OE AC Delco and Baldwin if you're looking for something that filters a little better than the OE filter:

Where do you get the Baldwins. I'm using FleetFilter for quite a while with no issues.

Check the Baldwin Filters Web site, they have a distributor locator by zip code at the bottom of their hompage:

If you have a difficult time finding a local supplier, I usually keep a stock of Baldwin oil and fuel filters on hand that I can sell and ship to you. Just an option.

I do not care what the wrapper says. As long as it is made by Racor.. You are fine. They made the oem one. Watch out for the Baldwins made in China... (tan) They are not made by Racor.
