Ok, I have searched everywhere on here and cant figure this out. I bought a set of EGR vent shades for my crewcab silverado. The front ones are a breeezze to install. I actually did it in the shops parking lot. He let me take one out there and put it on to see if I liked the look of them.

So I get home and go to put the backs on. WTF is up with these cheap azz looking clips that go around the weather stripping with the holes in the vents and these cheap plastic push clips going in it. I seen the tape on the Shades too. I moched them up with the clips before i peeled the tape and i said Hell no I'm not putting these clips on here. So I just peeled the tape and placed the shades where they go and rolled the rear windows up and left them up for 3 days.

I rolled them down and the feel kind of secure but i dont know if i was to be driving down the road if the are strong enough to stay in there.

What are you guys using on your rear vents. did you use the ugly cheap looking clips. I mean for 80.00 they culd have at least placed the clips in a hidden spot and not on the outside of the weatherstripping and shade.

Let me know and thanks in advance!!

Dunno. I've been tossing the ventshade idea around for a year now, because I know much of the afternarket crap is, well, crap...maybe I'll just say no.

i have the egr inchannels on my crew cab. i put the clips on to be honest i really dont notice them unless i'm looking specifically at it. i also thought about leaving them out but just said screw it and put them in. if you're going to leave them out i would put some more double sided tape on the other side of the flange that goes in the channel as the tape that came on it isnt very strong. all the ventshade and other products dont have the clips at all. sadly the egr ones are the best looking ones aside from teh clips. i've dealt with many of these and havnt had an issue with any falling out with the better tape on there

I installed them exactly as described in the install instructions about 2.5 years ago. If I recall, the hardest part was getting the protective tape in the right place so the clip wouldn't scratch the paint. I have no problems with them or the mounting system...

I had no problem with the In-Channel ones on my Avalanche (same doors as out Trucks) but yet, when I ordered them for my 2500HD, they were the biggest pieces of CRAP ever. The Shades for the Back Doors blew off as soon as I pulled outta my Road, and the Front ones needed so much damn trimming after I was done, they looked AWEFUL. So I returned them and just got the REGULAR Old Skool Tape-On ones and they are PERFECT.

i understand what you guys are saying but i didnt know if there was any trick to installing them.. I installed them without the clips cause i thought it was too tacky looking.. For a 40k truck and 80.00 shades you think they would have at least hid the clips on the inside of the shade or something... BS EGR disappointed
