Well guys, just had all 8 injectors replaced.

At least the paperwork states all 8. I did notice both valve covers had been resealed, so I guarantee the tech was in both sides.

Here's what happened. For about 10,000 miles I have noticed an intermintant tapping from under the hood. I used all differerent additives, and some made it quiet down more then others. Biodiesel made it almost go completly away. So I felt like I was masking the problem. For the last two weeks I have purposely flushed my fuel system so that I only have regular #2 in my system. Boy oh boy. The tap was loud and consistant. Worse when cold or under load. Sometimes at idle it would tap so loud I thought others must be able to here it. I was also getting white smoke at start up. A big cloud. As the outside temparature has improved, the smoke was still there. Finally it was taking a long time to crank/start. So I decided when I took it in for the tailgate recall I would see If I could get a tech to look at the engine.

Took the truck in at 7AM. I called at 3, they were still working on it???? Long time for tailgate straps and a balance check.

Go in around 5:30PM and there is my truck still dripping wet from the wash they gave it. I go inside and the service writer tells me all 8 were replaced. I am not sure if I am happy or just got hosed? They only wanted a signature, so I signed and swiftly got out of there. Popped the hood in the lot, noticed the engine valve covers had been resealed. That gave me some proof. Took it for a test drive, the engine was quiter then I ever rember it being. Not any more power, just quiet. I also did not have that feeling that a few clyinders were not all there. Before every now and again it felt like I was dropping a clyinder when accelerating. Kinda like a gasser with bad plugs.

I change the oil and filter every 5 K. Fuel filter at 7K, air at 5-7k. Always used somebodys additive. Never had the water in fuel light and used fuel from high volume stations all over Colorado and surrounding states. No secondary filtration and 43000 miles.

Techs paperwork said " Test drove several miles and heard taping noise cylinder. #8 injector cancel noise gone fuel knock balance rate high clyinder #7 and # 8 opposite banks. Replaced all 8 injectors test drove and D fuel knock gone. # 8 balance rate in specs. Clylinder # 8 and #7 are in specs."

Truck in at 7AM out at 5PM same day.

Getting ready to go look at oil level, color. Check for leaks and probally go drive it some more. Only time will tell.

Offhand, I'd say you got pretty good service there...

Same day turn around seems rare for injectors. Sounds like a good dealer. I do think they should have let you in on what was going on when you talked to them at 3pm. How many miles on the truck?

Bronco,

I wonder how the truck will ride on B20....with brand new injectors.

43000 miles.

I already filled up with B20 and everything is smooth and quiet.

Weld County Garage Truck City Service center did the work. They only work on pickups, motorhomes, vans and other big GM stuff. So they have tons of exposure. They have a gitrdone attitude and I am very pleased with the service. They have also addresed other issues in the past, promptly.

I did notice the oil is reading rather high?? About 2 " past the lead onto the wire. I will do a change just to be on the safe side.

It sounds like they treated you right. I had mine replaced just outside New Haven CT, when I was on business. They replaced all 8 injectors in a day, but in the process cut off my exhaust thermocouple off, got grease on the drivers seat, black RTV on both sides of the truck and didnt wash the truck afterwards.
