Okay, I was checking out my tires yesterday and noticed something "new". My outside drives seem to be wearing faster than my inners. Is this common place with a truck that isn't loaded all the time? My tire pressures stay with in 3-5 psi of each other ALL the time. They get kinda pricey I have noticed. Of course I run 'E' rated on it for the simple fact of you never know when you might need the extra poundage. I must also tell you I purchased this truck about 2 years ago and it sat for 8 months while I wa in Afghanistan. So, I know it isn't something I did recently.
Should I swap the outers with the inners or just let them ride? My front end needs an alignment but it doesn't dog track or walk one way or the other. :confuzeld

This is why I don't have custom wheels on my dually. I always rotate. Outside driver rear goes to pass front. Driver front goes to inside driver rear. Inside goes to outside and vise versa on the other side.
And I rotate tires usually every 5000 or so miles. If you do a routine rotation, it is amazing how much longer you can make a set of tires last.
The outsides, I think, wear faster because they need to travel more. When you take a left hand turn, the outside tire on the pass rear needs to travel in a longer arc then the inside one. But they are bolted together so it just gets drug with the inside tire.

The outside tires wear faster...got to rotate them if you want even wear.

in the past I only rotated tires if they were wearing unusually.
with this truck I have been rotating every 10,000 miles due to the outside duals wearing faster. I just upsized my tires the last time so I am incorporating the spare in the rotation. there is a diagram of how to rotate them in the owners manual with or without the spare.

How about this, I am considering humvee wheels and tires. ALL 6 of them. Now I am pretty sure the duel application would be a bear to make work. What do you think?[/B]
