Ok Im looking at buying a 94 2500 with the 6.5 in it. Im not sure of things to look for.. the truck has been used on a farm and has 165k miles on the clock. The body has some damage but easily fixable.. Im wondering if this thing has had a hard life will it give me alot of trouble? and what kind of fuel mileage do these things actually get? 4.10, 3.73, 3.42? Just curious Any tips on what to look for on the truck would be greatly appreciated.

Look in the glove box, for the RPO codes,,, write them down, and then look here for the break down. to find out what options, gears ect that it has, Also know that When I bought my 6.5 with 146000 miles, on it, I owned it for 1 week when the crank shaft broke! =( $5000 later It runs pretty good!

GU6 rpo = 3.42 gears
GT4 rpo = 3.73 gears
GT5 rpo = 4.10 gears

Talk to the owner. Ask what kind of modifications(if any) where done. And find out what he has replaced. General maintnance parts on the 6.5 include the notorious PMD, IP, and LP. Also, ask if he treated it like a diesel(let it warm up, cycled the glow plugs instead of just starting it.) He should be on his second set of injectors hopefully too. How much is he asking for it?
