after driving through east texas i had about 1 quintillion love bugs on the front of my truck. i should have taken a picture before i washed it but every time i thought of it i didn't have a camera. to put it into perspective, i drove 6 hrs round trip and had to stop 3 times on the way there and twice on the way back to clean the bugs off my windshield bc i couldn't see out of it...

so today i washed the front of my truck twice, then sprayed on a coat of rain-x bug and tar remover. i let it set, sprayed it off then washed the area again. i repeated this 3 times and i still have little oilly gut marks on my hood where bugs splattered.

how the hell do i get these off? please dont tell me clay bar...

i haven't used a clay bar at all on mine. I usually use Goo Gone with a little elbow grease. hope this works for you.

I will tell you how I got mine clean. I sprayed Pam cooking oil on my wind shield, bug shield, bumper, grill, headlights (everything) Monday night and cleaned it off the first thing Tuesday morning. I used a little bug and tar remover that morning and was surprised how all of it came off. It was solid bugs and some have been on since before hurricane Ike.

Use a dryer sheet to get them off....My mother lived in FL for a few years and dealt with those things. She had talked to someone down there about them being hard to get off, and the dryer sheet came up. Works like a charm.

I know one thing if you leave them on they will eat the paint off. a lot of guys around here will spray a lite coat of pam after they wash their truck and the bugs won't stick to the paint, you can just spray them off with a hose but don't put to much or it will blow off and get all over your windshield. I heard dryer sheets work to get them off too. The best time to wash is early in the morning after a heavy dew it seems to soak them and it's alot easier to wash them off kind of like dishes.

Dryer sheets do work, but with as much surface area there is to clean on this size truck soaking them first over night with light oil (Pam) worked very well for me and way less scrubing time. They also come off easier next time with the Pam residue thats left behind.
