perhaps some of you might be able to explain stacking, and also the possible effects stacking may have on the lly. what kinds of set ups are being used together and have these stacked combos caused any ill effects on there lly's and there components?
:badidea: or not?

Stacking is simply using a plug in under hood modual along with reprogramming the computer with a hand held OBDII programmer i.e. Van Aaken and Predator. There are mixed opinions on the amount damage that a big stack can do to the engine. The Dmax is a very durable engine that has proven to be able to take quite a bit of tuning and keep running strong. It seem the best stack for the LLY is the one I mentioned above. This stack put up 440 RWHP IIRC. To run either of these or both together on their higher settings you will need to do tranny work, exhaust, gauges , and a high flow air filter. The expensive part is the tranny.

i have a juice w/attitude and am stacking it with a predator, i run the pred on the lowest setting, with the juice off(for daily driving), and if i feel like goin a lil faster ill turn the juice on level 1 and hammer around town with it...if you go much higher than level 1 on the juice the power starts to get sloppy.......but like Gray Max said you definatly need a tranny upgrade...or youll be like me, just praying that "one last race" wont due your tranny in for the big one!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/banghead.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/banghead.gif

I have the edge stacked with the predator. I run predator on 40 hp tune and run edge on 1 or 2 depending on load or no load. that is pulling a load. I have never limped my tranny but i am not stupid with all this power. Just make sure you dont lead foot it with a load in 5th gear. I use the t/h switch almost exclusively. I also have mbrp exhaust and afe intake. I would run a deep sump pan and high quality atf. Oils from factory don't cut it for me. some will argue you dont need it, but my business is maintenance on some 200 diesel engines and everybrand made. Filtration and quality oils keep my rental fleet producing for years and years.
