Hi guys
i have a 2002 D-Max and i have gotten a problem with glowplugs.
My truck just wont stop glowing, as soon as a turn the ignitionkey the enginecomputer sends out a signal to start the glowplugs, but it just dont stop glowing when they should and that is causing the big fuse to snap.
We have tried to replace the computer thinking something that would help if it had internal problems but that wont help.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Lars

Sounds to me like your glow plug control module has gone bad, the module is nothing more than a relay switch. and I think yours has shorted out and is constantly energized.
It is located back side of the drivers side valve cover.
Unless it's really cold there already, you don't need the glow plugs to start your pickup until you can get them fixed.
How is it getting parts for the D-Max in Sweden?
There are two different control modules, One for California emiss. and one for Fed. emiss. pickups. Jim

I spoke to the dealership today and they said that the computer is sending signals to the glowplug control module to energize and to heat up the glowplugs, efter some time the signal should interrupt and the glowplugs would cool off.
On my truck the computer never stop sending signals to glowplug module and that causes the glowplugs to never stop glowing.
At least this is what the dealer told me after they have inspected my truck, as i mentioned before we have tried to replace the computer without any luck.
Can it be that the dealership is wrong and that computer should give signals all the time to the computer?
Its getting colder here in Sweden and we already had the seasons first snowfall here so it would be great to solve the glowplug issue :=)
And yes, itīs really hard to find parts for duramax here
Thanks

My LBZ was keeping the glow plugs on until i fired it up. Each time it set an SES for a glow plug circuit. I just had the #6 glow plug and the module replaced on Monday.

Lars is your truck federal or california emmissions? On the LB7's the glow plug systems were completely different between cali and federal emmisisons.

Did the dealer tell you what code it was throwing?
