I want to install some gauges on my 03 Dmax because I tow a 13,500 lb trailer, but don't want to mess up my injector warranty. How does GM handle gauges installed on a truck when you go in for warranty work ?? Is there a way to install the pyro without tapping the exhaust manifold because I am sure that is the first place they look to get out of paying claims ??

Hows a dealer gonna prove your "guages" are the cause of anything............

I don't think there would be an issue.

I am running a Hypertech tuner (great) but was concerned about heating the turbo up to much so I installed a Pyrometer and Boost guage. I ordered it from Dieselmanor.com as an install kit. Just installing guages will do absolutely nothing to your warranty. My dealer saw mine last week and knows I have a Hypertech tuner (bought it from them) and thought it was a real nice looking and functional add on. The kit I bought included the post (snaps over the driver side post) all wiring, tubing, fittings, guages, etc. etc. I ordered the drill bit and tap from them also to make sure I had the right size. Also ordered the matching paint (comes black) and painted it. Matches perfectly. I am a bit mechanical and took me about six hours. I pull an 18,000# 5th wheel with a boost of 96 hp. The guage keeps me from melting down.

While I agree with the other statements, it all depends on the dealer. When I had honestly and truthfully never had any programming on the truck, I installed gages. I then went to the dealer to get a computer prog. update, the dealer said "I see you've got gages, so I won't work on your truck." The conversation digressed from there into "you've got gages and therefore you've f-ed your truck.

i think i would go ape shit if my dealer tried giving me a hard time about having gauges. they dont neccessarially mean your running a tuner or anything, it could just mean that your trying to make sure your stock engine is running safely.

Dealer must prove that said guage/product/programmer/exhuast/intake casued problem. Obviously if you have a built engine, nitrous, propane, dual cp3, out of warranty, etc....your on your own.

I here of so many bad stories of how dealers are gauge friendly, until it's going to cost them money with injectors or head gaskets. I know when Ford sees a drilled manifold they start with the denied claim crap. I am going back and forth on this. So far my truck has never had injector issues, but I am afraid if I put gauges on and I have issues they might try to get out of paying up now that money is getting tight for the Big Three.

I bought autometer cobalt pyro and boost gauges and an attitude overhead mount.
Now I'm looking for someone in So. Cal.(near Orange county) to do an install.
Any names of shops/vendors/ideas . . . and approximately how much?

I would not think having gauges added would void a warranty. But it is true money is tight so may be a reason for them to weasel out. I have not added gauges yet for the same reason. It really depends on who you go to.
Try Stewietuned here on DP. He is in OC and does installs on performance stuff. Also a diesel tech at a friendly GM dealership. If I was closer that is where I would go if I was having trouble. In fact I may someday.

a stock duramax should still have qauges, the exhaust systems are so restricitive that the EGTS on a stock truck can still go alot over recommended, so they shouldnt care if your trying to look after your vechicle.....most dealers are retarded when it comes to add ons.

Yep, you are right about that. My last truck had full gauges and some mods and the dealer was kind of funny about it. They did honor the waranty but if I came back a second time I think they were ready to send me down the road.

spent 20yrs running diesels, monitored gauges. normally slight change told me something needed maintenence or trouble. generally the person that buys a diesel, uses those gauges from experience. dealer has to have proof. how many of you that won't install gauges have different tires, a dealer can claim that oversized tire/wheel combo overworked engine, voiding mfgr's warranty. food for thought. gauges = good, not bad
