I was driving down the interstate 70-75 mph with cruise on, it was about a 70 mile trip, 20-30 miles into it, out of no where the engine revs up weird noise from trans like dragging shovel on pavement. I hit the breaks a little then hit gas again and all it good, pull over check it out and nothing is wrong? Another 20-30 miles later dose it again? get home check codes and nothing? I seem to remember 2-3 month ago it did the same thing but it was at like 30mph. any one have any ideas?
This is in my work truck 2003 extended 4x4 2500hd with 215,000 miles, newer used trans at 180,000miles it had around 70,000 miles on it. so this trans should have about 105,000 miles Most miles with a 7000lbs trailer.
Everything else with the trans seems fine. Thanks for any info!!!

I don't visit as much as I used to, but I know there was a bunch of talk about 6 months ago about the ownership of the board being sold, and it sure seems like a lot of posts go unanswered anymore. Seems like there's been a big knowledge loss here, as many of the originals don't seem to be around. Somebody tell me I'm wrong?

Well it did it again today, I turned onto a gravel road that was very bumpy and it did it again.
This time it shoot a;
Po700 turn on engine light
Po734 4th gear incorrect ratio
Last time (month ago, 2000 miles ago) I was going faster so it shot a 5th gear incorrect ratio.
Possibly in the electrical connection between the trans and the vehicle??
Wiring to the range selector switch??

Sounds like an electrical problem to me. I'd check the connections and make sure wires aren't chaffed or rubbed through. If that doesn't work, I would be suspicious of the Transmission Control Module. It sounds like a trip to the dealer may be in order.

I had it at the dealer and they charged me $100 just to tell me if they cant get it to do it while they drive it, then they can't fix it. they want it to do it while its hooked up to the tech 2. Something about getting a digital "picture of the electrical system" when it sends a trouble code.

I think I have it figured out. it seems to be in the transfercase.
On a back road yesterday I was trying to get it to do it again, playing with shifting the 4x4 back and forth and zooooom off it goes again. Tryed shifting 4 low to 2 hi a few times, now it seems fine. somethings probably not quite right with it but who knows. for now it works. I guess I have a spare t case but was trying to sell it. Im guessing i have a bent of broken low gear shift fork.
