I was going to add onto my last T2 question, but it's locked (probably because it's almost a year old), so I can't...

I know you can get different cards for the Tech 2 to allow it to work with GM, as well as several different manufacturers. Can one get a card to allow it to work with Ford OBD-II vehicles like a NGS Tester? At some point down the road, when it wouldn't hurt to drop $4500 or so, I would like to get a Tech 2, but I wouldn't want to buy a NGS also.

There is a card called a 3 in 1, I think its put out by OTC

But does that give the same functionality as the NGS? I've seen some references to Ford, but those are only 83-97 Ford (only 96-97 would be OBD-II on most Fords), and I saw references to generic only...

It will only work on 96 and up OBD II, I have no idea what a NGS is, so cant compare. WIth Ford never really being a data stream diagnostic system, I dont believe they have as much info as the GM stuff. I have not played with a lot of the ford stuff though. We have the 3 in 1 card mostly for our used cars for checking codes and such.

The NGS is basically Fords version of the Tech2. Allows you to flash the PCM, read PCM data, Probably ABS, SRS, GEM, HEC, program PATs, etc. I don't really know what you mean by "Data Stream Diagnostic system", but the Ford OBD-2 PCM's do output real-time streaming data, basically the same as the GM PCM's, and they offer tests such as KOEO and KOER (possibly more).

Same thing as real time. I know that in 96 ford went to it, I was refering to pre 96 when ford was using pinout boxes for readings.

The 3 in 1 is not going to do any where near what the acutal Ford tool is going to do. Its more generic.
