I know there is an endless discussion of mpg but I wanted to put in my 2 cnts worth. Just got back from our first "trip" of about 300 miles to the cetral coast. (Morro Bay area) Going over we got 22.4 mpg. Truck hit it's first 1,000 miles on the trip so I am very happy with the mileage. Lot's of people say mileage gets better when the truck is broken in. I can't wait to see what it gets at 10,000 miles. One question. What does the temp. gauge usually run. Is 200-210 normal on a pretty good climb? Love the truck so far. Feels safe and secure.

Sounds like you are doing well with that truck. The temps seem OK depending on the climb and how fast you were pushing it. Mine runs 181deg to 195deg depending how hard I'm pushing it on flat ground. Good mileage. What speed were you traveling?

was this hand calculated or DIC calculated? my stock guage looks like 210, but my Attitude shows it as 190.

Cruise control set on 61 mpg. DIC Also, as soon as I reach the peak the temp. goes back to 180. Never got over 210 but I was just curios. Perhaps these have a 210 thermostat?

FYI my temp was with the attitude. I don't watch the factory guage anymore except for a quick glance to see if it is redlined. Also on my truck the DIC doesn't report my mileage accurately (when it was stock 2mpg better than hand calculated). Some people have better luck with DIC accuracy than others. (oops! did I really say that? http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.gif)

Thanks Lakingslayer. Even if the DIC proves to be a little off I'll still be happy. My old truck (90 chevy 1/2 ton) was lucky to get 16 with a strong tail wind. Although I can say in owing that truck for 15+ years all I ever did toi t was replace the alternator.

Ok I've gotta ask, the Cummins used to be a good mileage getter, has it dropped off considerably with the higher power numbers??

I browse the TDR site every once in while. Like the DMax, it appears the Dodge took a hell of mileage hit with the emission changes in 2004.5. Dodge came out with a reflash in Oct, 2004 for the new 600 engine to address the mileage concerns. Even with the reflash, it appears the Dodge is getting about a mile less than the DMax. (However, it is really difficult to reach any conclusions from all the mileage posts.)
