What may be good or bad for the LMM? Thinking about the DPF. That an additive may help this engine go into regen less often, meaning burn the fuel a little bit cleaner? Also about an additive to keep the fuel from gelling when it gets too cold, like Maine or Alaska. Main concern would be not to plug to DPF with a winter additive. I know the torch cutter can fix it but untill then:D.
Curious to hear anyone's advice or trial and error stories.

Go to the Maintenance and Fluids Section, there was a comprehensive study done on fuel additives about a year ago. I use Power Service in mine, mainly because it's cheap and available at Walmart, and it's ULSD compatible, which should be good for the DPF. No problems in 20,000 miles.

ULSD fuel is just ULSD fuel. Not much of a way to improve it since it takes so much more refining to get to it and lose of other items that LSD fuel has to begin with. Adding addtives like stanadyne helps with lubrication. As for cold weather adding can help. I run stanadyne year round and never had fuel gel or filter freeze even at -20.
ULSD Ultra low sulfur diesel 15 PPM sulfur
LSD low sulfur diesel 500 PPM sulfur
No need, just use good quality clean fuel and keep the fuel filter clean and save you money for some fun stuff...

Not necessarily true... Depends on where you live. In the wonderful state of Illinois, we got crap fuel throughout the state that was so bad, even Power service would not prevent filter icing. I hope this year is better...
