I recently installed new injectors (SW Diesel-I think) and performed an oil change. The startup and first few days or week the truck sounded much quiter. I've put a good 700-800 miles on it in 3 weeks and noticed the oil level has risen above the top mark and the engine is noiser.

The can (from intake cover to turbo) has a little blowby coming out and I'm pretty sure the oil level was just below 'full' after the oil change.

What can be the cause of the increased oil level? Where can I send a sample off to to get it tested-and how much is the testing?

if you go to their site they send you the kit for free. fill the kit up with your oil and then its $20

Only two things will raise your oil level, fuel or coolant. The oil analysis will tell you which it is.

Unless someone is sneaking in and adding oil to your motor while you sleep...

Yeah... getting fuel into your oil is not a good thing, BTW.

Were I you, I would take a sample, then change oil and make sure you got the right level. Send the sample away.

If it starts rising again before the sample comes back, I wouldn't drive it - I like my bearings the way they are.

I would suspect injector leakdown, from the symptoms. Do you get a poof of white when you start?

A quick test for water/coolant in oil: touch oil dipstick to hot exhaust manifold. If it sizzles then you've got water in oil. If not, then it will smoke a bit.

Just my 2 cents...

thanks-I'll try the dipstick/manifold test. I haven't checked the coolant level in forever because it never moves (or moved).

Does leakdown occur after shutdown only? I had one morning where I noticed a small puff of smoke on startup-I thought it was a faulty glowplug.

If you never have to add coolant and it stays the same, its definately fuel thats making the engine oil level rise higher than normal.

Injectors when bad can leak from the pintle after shutdown. The injection pump also has driveshaft seals that sometimes cause problems and that can send fuel into the crankcase.

I think you would notice it being milky on the dipstick if it was coolant, exspecially if it raised enough to notice on the dip stick.

Let it sit overnight, back the drain plug out a couple turns and see what runs out. My bet is on IP front seal, I had one go out on a DB2 on an old 6.9.
